I'm not in H'ville, but I believe the Harley boutique is not far from the airport. The probably have a loading area you could use if a local doesn't step up with some ramps.

Thanks for the information. I saw the Harley dealer close by, but the bike is being picked up at a storage area and I need to load it on the truck at that location. I was hoping to borrow a ramp - or I could buy one at a local shop.

I got a 12 foot Penske truck and there is no ramp on the truck. I have a feeling that they are going to give me a 16 foot truck and that one has a ramp.

    I appreciate any suggestions -

If no one steps up with a ramp, the closest place I know if to buy a ramp is Home Depot and Lowes on Hwy 72.
Most all the storage areas are level so no natural hills to back the truck to.

Welcome to area and some great riding. Hope for your quick recovery too.

I haven't found any piggies this far north...yet. You'll be the second to know if I do!

There are hogs in Bankhead National Forest. I have seen several while riding there.

Hate to hear about the shoulder, you are going to be missing some amazing riding weather.

I've killed several in Bankhead and saw a few on Wheeler.

If anybody is interested, we are going to invade the Oakmulgee District the weekend of March 24-26. Camping at Paul Grist State Park. Plan to arrive Friday afternoon and depart Sunday morning. You need $13.50 per night for camping. The park has showers with warm water. If you don't feel like cooking your meals, there is a BBQ place about 10 miles away, or Selma is only 15 miles away. This ride will be adventure bike friendly. If you bring your dirt bike, make sure that it has a tag.

Does this work with linked brakes? Often, on and off road, I'm doing trail braking, but with the Concours it is kind of obnoxious. Just curious. Tia.

I'm sure you can do this with linked brakes. Goldwings have linked brakes and there were plenty of them there. Personally I hate linked brakes and none of my current bikes have them.

I thought with those, as long as you were under a certain speed (15mph?), you didn't get any front brake with the rear. The newer Connies have settings that allow you to select how much "linkage" occurs, but you can't turn it all the way off.

I like the BMW system. Front brake applies some rear brake, depending on how hard you're on it. Rear by itself just applies rear, no matter the speed.

Lets me only focus on the front brake when hustling it through turns, but I can drag the rear alone on steep downhill turns or in slow speed maneuvers if I need to, without worrying about getting unwanted front brake.

Coming up this Saturday, March 25th: Riders from the Vintage club, Bamarides and other groups will be meeting at the Blue Plate Cafe for breakfast. There will be a short (around 2 hours) ride over to Allsport in Decatur where they will have free food, prizes and unveil their new line of Royal Enfield motorcycles. This will be a great chance to meet other riders from the area. Details are on the Bamarides forum: http://bamarides.com/ride/index.php?topic=1600.msg14283#msg14283

Don't forget: tomorrow there's a car and bike show in Athens, starting at 8:00 AM till 1:00 PM. If you can find the vicinity of Jefferson and Market streets you'll be right there. If not come into Athens on Hwy 72 from east or west and turn north on Jefferson Street next to Burger King. Top of the hill. You probably could miss it if you try really hard.
