So no tag, I guess?
Less typing, more tagging!!!!
Well, yeah, I got the NOCal and CenCal tags on st-owners.com.
Please bring Mr. Egg down south to Maryland as we have some major hardcore taggers here.
Hey, you want to do a team rescue tag mission next Thursday?
It is a possibility, I have to first see how the next few days at work go.
Straight shot north on I 95. About 6 hours from Baltimore, if you ride at night, but it is damn cold up here:eek1. Below zero overnight, 20F daytime. Spring can't come soon enough for me.
Before looking for a camouflaged pouch in the rocks ...
Maybe the locals can give periodic updates about how much snow is covering the tag. Don't make footprints to it for some kid to get curious about, just let us know if a rescue ride is even practical.
Wreck, I drove by there last Saturday in my car, which was 3 days after a snow, and all the roads were clear all the way to the last 10 feet (which was the driveway to the parking area). I suspect one would be in knee deep snow as you approach the tree and dig for the pouch.
Come on up. - 15 on Sunday night.
12 degrees F this morning in Baltimore.
I am having a pretty fierce internal debate right now. The voice that keeps reminding me that I don't have much (just a vest) heated gear has the edge right now.
Be smart. It'll be a mutha to find the camo pouch in the rocks, leaves, and snow. (I moved here from there.) Plus, it's about a 12 hour ride for us and it'll keep. Don't know about you, but if I just had a heated vest, hypothermia can make me do stupid things.
The eggster can sit for a while:
We had another 18" of snow over night. There are almost 60" of standing snow in the last 22 days. 2 different snowfall records set for the month of January, including the most snowfall, in the shortest period, EVER. 27" in 13.5 hours. More snow is forecast for Sat. and Tues. This is also one of the coldest winters in years. That poor egg may not see daylight until March.
Dont adventure riders include snowmobile riders
get to work
Um yeeeaaaahhhh. The following was posted nearly two months ago:
Seriously, even the MD tag is stuck at this point. Pretty rare event.
Hopefully Eggy will be moving again in a few weeks...
Does anybody around there ride a 2WD URAL?
It has a nice cozy sidecar for hauling eggs around
The mascot is on the move and in good hands. Unfortunately, this is the only shot I got at the entrance to Arcadia Park.
All in all, the roads were great and I have a good long ride. The back roads still had some black ice on them in spots and I was riding nervously for a few miles.
I would have taken a picture of the bike in front of the sign but I really had to get the hell out of there. To begin with, I had already dropped the bike once, about 1/4 mile from the tag. I tried to turn off the road and its was a glacier.
So, back to the tag spot. The whole entrance was also a sheet of ice several inches thick. I had to park in the road. I ran up to the tree and found the mascot. Before I could leave, a guy in a pickup truck stopped to see if I was ok. He pulled in and almost got stuck. There wasn't ANY safe place for me to stand and get a picture. I was still a bit shaky and just got the bike rolling before I got hit or dumped it again.
Pic below was taken when I got home just before I washed it. The mascot is hanging on the right handlebar. Some road rash is visible as well. I need a new blinker and mirror.
Another pic of the new scars, just after a wash.
I haven't even looked in the bag yet and I'm quite anxious to check it all out. Finding a new tag spot will be a challenge because of all the snow. If I put it under the snow, it can melt and it will be out in the open. I'll have to get a bit creative finding a spot. I'll get moved the next day that I can safely get out there.
well done! and that sucks about the damage to your bike....
Not if you take it down to Key West.....
