I was thinking under the 13,000 foot sign on top of Strawberry Pass in Colorado. Very ADV Rider type of spot, all rock 'n dirt 'n snow 'n ice. On my ST1100 street bike. I've been there before, territory most GS's will never see. <ducking>
But, it's true he gets a lot more "action" when closer to the population centers and the desk-bound computer jockeys. <ducking again>
South Dakota tomorrow.
Well, Eggy is on a roll (egg-roll, get it. ) I picked him up yesterday at Mormon Lake, AZ with the intention of carrying him well east. But...
...at Winslow, AZ I met some fellow travelers standing on the corner. (No, Really!) They had just come in from CO and are visiting vast territiories before heading home to Ash Grove, MO. Turns out Patrick is a member here but had never played the tag game, so... Eggy has a new chauffeur.
I'm at a wi-fi disadvantage right now but will post pics soon. Also, Patrick will check in first chance he gets.
"It's the Hand-Off!"
Bring it to Missouri!
I hate to whine. being that I am out of cheeze and all that. But we have had two reported grabs/handoff and no pics.
Come on folks.
Yeah, well, if you followed this game from it's beginning, you will already know there are a couple players that simply follow thier own agenda....and it doesn't always gibe out with the intent/or :
but it's a waste of time to biotch about it, because they have already played
"pass the potato" already to freaking south america...wayyyyy back when.
Of course its not like Im going to ride out there and do the Bruceing.... But complaining is a basic human right.
I guess he should have asked the guy if he had a camera before the bogus handoff.
Attention George and Patrick:
Just checking to see if you understand the concept of this game.
The idea is to post a picture of your bike at the tag location.
Oh....I'm all in favor of playing the game by the rules.
however...it seems as though the game has gone 'stale'...so I'm just happy to see it finally pick up some momentum again!!
but, Let's see those pics fellas!!
this was pretty awesome btw.....
Ok. time for an update. I met George in Winslow AZ as he said. I have never heard of Mr. Egg before but since I've been an ADVrider for several years I was given the oppotunity to play the game. George has a picture of the Mr. Egg transfer but apparantly hasn't had the opportunity to post them yet.
I will take a photo of Mr. Egg today to prove that he is in good hands and will post soon the spot where he will be planted.
Thanks for this opportunity and I look forward to seeing where he goes next.
BTW - he is now in SW Missouri
As promised, Mr. Egg is in Ash Grove Missouri
Since it's Sunday. I took Eggy to a local country church just south of Ash Grove
I then took Mr. Egg down Route 66 to Paris Springs Missouri (just a few miles off I-44 between Joplin and Springfield).
I spoke with Gary who owns this 100 year old service station. He gave me permission to store Eggy in the cab of this old oil truck
This is where he is located today.
Paris Springs Missouri
N 37 degrees 11.662
W 093 degrees 40.758
Gary has his Route 66 Filling Station display open daily. He is a very friendly guy and said nobody ever opens the truck but was ok with my placing it there and ADV opening the cab to retrieve. The cache can be found at the base of the drivers side seat.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this fun.
Way cool, Patrick,,, hope ya get the chance to read back thru the thread and see Eggy's prior adventures...
Apologies, folks... I tried to post pics on Tuesday but the thru-put at McD's just wasn't up to the task... and today is the first wi-fi I've had as I been traveling. Some of youse know what that is...
So, here's the "old" location pic at Mormon Lake...
...and the new location in Winslow, AZ...
Six picture album is here.
(Okay, what am I not getting here? The "image" tag isn't displaying the pic tho I know I've done this before. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.)
Check post #1888
Oh, excuse me, Patrick 46. By "Patrick", I meant belkerx3, the most recent Eggy chauffeur. whose name just happens to be, uh, Patrick.
Google doesn't make that easy to do, as best as I can tell you've got to open each page in your browser, right click and select "open image in new tab", and extract the correct URL from the address bar for the new tab. Way too much work IMO, so I'd recommend hosting your images elsewhere. Smugmug & Photobucket both seem to work well here.
On.mobile browsers that is the only way I have found to use Picassa, however from a desktop browser it provides several choices for imbedding an image. Overall I've been pleased with the free picture hosting service.
