Just missed this thread is all.
Now I gotta go order tires for the little XT.
I'd put some knobbies on if it were me, much more fun that way.
My first offroad ride was on a KLR650 with 705's. I wished I had more aggressive tires the whole time.
Big difference off-road between a DR and a KLR.
The 705's are actually popular tires with some of the DR650 guys - even off road. The amount of mud will be the big factor. If it's not real muddy they'll be fine on this ride. I was skeptical about the 705 on the DR I bought out west, but I'm glad I gave it a chance - it performed great in 4k miles of AZ and Baja with a lot of off road riding - just about everything, but mud. I was running a 700 front, though. I may even put them on my DR650 here, once we get past mud season.
Are you bringing your 350 or 650 on this ride?
I never know what I'm riding until I actually swing my leg over it.
Probably the 350.
Just curious, I think my son will be on my KLR so I can swap between that and the DR during the ride.
I think you'd have more fun on the DR for most of this ride.
I'd be into that. Maybe meet in Parsonfield if I can't get down to Berwick?
How did the KLR guy with the hard panniers make out after he lost one (or both)?
It's starting to look like quite a crew! Should be a great time. I am looking forward to it for sure!
Seemed like he was having a great time, really!
Kept saying something about "should have gotten a smaller bike for trail riding" though.
I don't see his name on the list this year.
I take it your on a KLR? Might want to leave the hard bags at home.
But seriously, you should have seen Tripod tossing his KLR around out there, impressive - made it look like a little dirt bike.
Can I come and play?
Looked at last years thread, looks like fun.
Jump in any time, I'd be glad to contact you when we make to my house for lunch if you can't make it to the start.
Time for a couple more pics.
Whoa, pretty gnarly. I guess if hard bags are too wide, my Ural rig wouldn't fit, huh?
Can we change the name of this ride to: The Epic Spring Maine Ride
We're going to be a parade through Southern Maine!
I grew up in Sanford, so this route is great for me to get back to my old stomping grounds.
Pencil me in Wade, hopefully we'll get some rain before launch date
And if enough show we can test out North Burdockistan's new "Mass Gathering Ordinance" with a parade down Main Street! Wheelies optional. I'll lead.
Catch me if you can, coppa's....(oops, wrong forum)
