I'm going to get the tag in the other thread today. Will post this afternoon.
I got it! Here is the pic of the tag... Nowhere near a Starbucks!
What a great ride. Beautiful country up here. It was a little cold and a little windy but an awesome trip. I'd never ridden that road before and now its my new favorite. Didnt see a single other rider out today...
Very senic indeed.
So, does kdscoates confirm i got the tag?
whoo hoo tag arama is alive that is it!! post the next one so i can play
Damn Coletrain, I must have missed you by an hour or so.
Next time you are up that way, I highly recommend cutting across Helton Creek Falls to 129. Nice little forest service road with a cool waterfall you can barely see from the road.
Damn Coletran and Flux! We were there too this afternoon! :eek1 I can't believe we did not run into each other. The roads were empty. Talk about some DOG activity....
Here is our pic....
That's funny stuff right there. I almost dropped by to say hi but figured not to un-announced. Anyway, I figured you might be in 'the city' today. I ran up 60 to Turners Corner, north on 129 to Helton Creek, passed the falls, crossed a few little creeks, then south on 348, got the tag (albeit a late tag!) then down 75 Alternate back to Turners Corner, down 60, down 9 to Dawson Forest to gather info for the next Ride Report like the Lanier one I did.
Bummer we all missed each other.
Hey Flux! What would've been real funny is if we all showed up there at the same time. It would've been a race home to see who could get the pic uploaded to this thread the quickest!
You should've stopped by. Don't worry about the unannounced part. Peggy is here most of the time and I am usually back in the big city on Wednesdays & Thursdays.
You missed the big Suches excitement.... there is a fire burning on the other side of black mountain. :eek1 The smoke is pretty thick today. A helicopter has been picking up water from the small lake (I believe it is Woody lake) on 60 and flying over the mountain to dump it. Hopefully the fire will be under control soon. It is like a forest service ranger convention up here.
OK here's the next tag...
The Clue: There is a Church not a chapel off of the main road that the tallest waterfall east of the Missippi resides. Find the church and DOGs go west.
This should be a pretty easy pickup for some of you. I was going to make it harder and go deeper into the forest but I noticed this...
Daddy needs a new fork seal. Didnt want to risk going into the forest too deep with the seal going out. Now lets get the game going!!!
Hmmm...Did you sleep in? early bird gets the worm...
Nice new tag, maybe I can score that one.
Have you tried cleaning that fork seal yet? Do you know the film negative trick?
Just a heads up, this is why I didn't get home in time to claim the last tag! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=405686
now this is what i am talking about dogs we do ride!!!!!
I'm into chicks.
Just ribbin' ya, good job getting the tag. Hopefully someone gets yours quicklike and we get this thing ROLLIN'!
I heard of the film negative trick, but havent tried it. I hear a business card works too. BTW..That is a sweet report. I crossed Shoal Creek the otherday too. It is deeper than it looks!
Hell yeah! Now I'm gonna need one of those DOG stickers to make it official...
I tried, but I failed.
I'm not sure what's worse. Wet leaves, wet rocks, or wet Georgia red clay.
I found the church, and headed west. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain and I was on the Harley. Some of those hills were getting pretty tough to get up with 145lbs, of torque, 500 lbs of bike, and no traction. So I walked to the bridge. No motorcycle in the pic, no count.
I did have the satisfaction of having a completely mud covered bike and leathers though. I saw a couple of hunters/ hikers and they were thoroughly confused as to what I was doing there.
I need to put the KTM motor back together. It would've been cakewalk.
So it's still wide open. I'd go get it tomorrow, but I'm still on the same bike, and I'm sure that road is going to stay muddy a long time.
I'm nailing the next paved one.
Ah, I didn't find it all that muddy today on FS28 (Nimblewill Gap Rd.) If I am right, I'll post the next one shortly!
cool stretchwife!! give me a good one to get over the weekend!!!
Way to go Strechwife!!! Lets see the next one!
Next time we'll trade bikes.
I'm surprised we didn't see each other. We were apparently up there about the same time.
I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully it won't be too far back in the woods.
Due to my rush to meet the kids at the bus, the tag tour of Dawson County continues...
The material of the structure and type of structure is your clue to the road name.
"Up the creek" not "Down by River"!
