Thinking of a 4 day weekend on the Blue Ridge. I'd leave charleston on Friday and ride back on Monday. Not sure whether I should go North or South. I've explored as far south Smokey Mtn National park and gone as far north as Mt Mitchell. Any advice? If I go south I'd like to go as far south as the skyway and Chatanooga to check out the aquarium. I don't know much about the northern route. Ideally I'd like to get off the ridge some and check out small towns and maybe ride by some pretty lakes and rivers.

    Any thoughts or advice?

I would head South from Asheville. I live near the VA and NC border of the BRP. Although we have some awesome roads around here, I always enjoy either North of Roanoke or South of Asheville for a good trip.

I personally love the Highlands/ Franklin area.

The area from Little Switzerland to Cherokee is the best part in my opinion so I would say south from Asheville.

The side roads off the parkway south of Asheville are great as well. 215 down to 64 is great and hwy 28 from Franklin to Mountain Rest should not be missed as well.

Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground is off 215 and is a great place to stay.
