Word on the street is Saturday riding red river style.

I think Ender, Droo, my dad, and myself are going. My ladygirl friend thing might go. What with the rain earlier this week I bet traction will be great.

Andrew, Chris and I will probably be up at the front... it's too crowded and rowdy in the middle, and it's hard to figure out who is ADV if anyone shows up. That group we encountered last time at the front is rare, it's usually very quiet :D

I think we will have both the white Nissan frontier and grey dodge 3500 with large white trailer.

Weather was great, traction was great. Minimal mud, the loose sand was moist and made for perfect corners and berms. Hill climbs were bountiful due to the increased traction and confidence inspired by having a new go pro strapped to my head. All was well in the land of the dirt. Missed were the souls of the missing.

With the forecast for rain on Wed and Thurs - I'm leaning towards Sunday.

But I'm still trying to get authorization for a ride on my wife's "birthday weekend".

Agreed on Sunday, I say we watch weather and see how many inches they get.

I had a good time (as child mentioned conditions were about perfect). Only one hill climb I gave up on (Ender had no problem with it). My battery is over 2 years old and after killing the bike too many times in the cold on that hill I had trouble starting it again. It was just Ender and I for the first part of the day, so Ender went to my truck to get jumpers while I sorted through some tools to access my battery (the creek bed we were in was too sandy to do a bump start).

After letting the bike sit for a while I was able to get it going again and met Ender on his way back with the jumper cables that we didn't use since I got it going again.

I have the battery tender SAE pigtail on my bike, so now I'm going to carry my SAE connector with battery clips (the cable that comes with the battery tender) and I just ordered a 12' SAE-to-SAE cable to carry for a quick jump from anyone else with a battery tender pigtail. And I need to get a new battery.

Battery Tender 081-0148-12 12.5' Extension Cable:

I think it's a good idea to carry both the extender and the clips. That way if someone else has the SAE pigtail (like me) then you can just hook it up directly to the batteries and jump start quickly. With the extender and the clips you can try to get at the other person's battery with enough length that the bike doesn't have to be right on top of each other.

I know it is a scary thing when you are in a rut and your bike doesn't want to start. For anyone who doesn't start on the first or second try and suspects a worn battery... Take a 10 minute break, make sure you are in neutral, keep the starter pegged until it goes the first time, that's your best chance. Then go replace your battery first chance you get! :D

Although now that I think about it... I wonder if it would work, since the pigtails are fused. Not sure if anyone has tried it before, I read conflicting reports online...

I have yet to see you kick start your bike successfully from a cold start!! :rofl

I did it at your house that one time remember? Cold and everything. Next time we're out I'll give it a go at the bottom of a ditch while upside down, you can even urinate on me to add to the realism of a dead battery situation.

Chris, you need to ask your friend girl type person if she'd be interested in an all girl dirt school in Texas for a weekend. It's just in the potential planning stages. Just trying to get an idea of who might come play.

Oh man... looks like we are going to get hit with one big-assed storm tomorrow morning and then clear until the weekend, should be perfect traction again! :freaky (possible slightly muddy in spots)
