Its pretty wicked. Wash outs everywhere. The backroad riding is going to be scary. Hopefully we don't lose to many routes. Hwy 101 is open now. I'd think 17 will be a while. Closed in both directions.
Just checked out my camp. The air base its under water

My shore line is taking a shit kicking. Water went up close to 4 feet today.
Hoping it goes down quick and the sauna doesn't wash away.

Wow! That's going to be dangerous if the lakes freeze that high. The water will receed under the ice creating an unsafe ice condition. Hope things get back to normal quickly!

Finndian, are you able to get to your shop? Is that between your shop and Wawa? Any other water problems in town?

Suddenly, being fogged in for a few days doesn't look that bad.

Hope this does not have too negative affect on you town Gord. Put an anchor on that sauna.

Is your shop ok? Us tobbans are thinking of you. Never a good thing to see this kind of thing and the long term hardships these types of disaster can cause.

For those who have ridden down to the docks at the old harbor on lake superior here's a shot I found. Looks like the water ran down the road and washed away some houses.

I have stayed at the Northern Lites Motel and found it to be an excellent place with really interesting owners. I know they are closed for the winter . I saw the photo in yesterdays Sudbury Star and it shows signifgant damage. I really hope the damage is repaired to the road and that the business can recover.

I have always enjoyed travelling in that area and would hate to see the Motel closed, John and Maureen are good folks and very bike friendly business, We need to encourage good folks like them to succeed.

Good luck to all the people of Wawa as the rebuild and recover from storm. I know Finndian has his shop and family in that area, I wish you well.

I suspect the damage to the motel is to great to recover. I just hope they get a fair deal from insurance so they can walk away comfortably.

Here's a shot of the railway station yard, parking lot and street in front of the big bear hotel in hawk junction. This really shows how much rain came down in a short time.

    Hi there Gord

I am truly sorry to hear the Northern Lites is probably a total loss. I just read on the Sault Star the article about the flood and saw the photo gallery. I saw a quote from Mo and she says she is dealing with the insurance. I like you hope they get a settlement that will allow them to start over,

My sincere best wishes to all as you dig out from this mess, Please let your friends and family know we are including you in our prayers.

Please say hi to the Parkers from grateful guests,

First off, hope all you stuff is okay Finndian!! Good luck with the clean up! What a mess! :eek1

So here I sit in North Platte, Nebraska, waiting for the Winnipeg gang to show up. Made good time getting here, 1632kms in 15hours and 45 minutes. Waded thru the herds of deer down to Duluth in the dark...amazing I didn't smoke one! They were everywhere. Inbetween the deer it snowed but nothing major. Sunny most of the day and above zero.

Going to get dinner soon if the guys don't show and hope to make Moab tomorrow late afternoon :clap

Hope to have a report going Monday night.

    +1

We stayed in room 24 when we visited the area in 2009. 24 is the one hanging over the ravine now...

Very nice place and friendly owners. Sure hope they survive this.

wow. I am stunned by the flood pictures. I hope the sauna does'nt sustain too much damage. Gord I saw the work you did trying to preserve your shoreline, it looks like the water is gonna do some more damage there.

When I was out in Sask, during the floods the force of the water was amazing.

After the water went down. Some poor guy from BC, found his car in Roche Percee. It was still there months later, maybe left as a testament to the power of Mother Nature.

Moab riders: have a good trip, wish I was going too. Snow here this morning.

Perhaps there's a grain of truth in the "Pirates of Saskatchewan" song.
