We race on that track plus the surrounding woods twice a year...fast :eek1
You konna ko inta hot tub in ta buff? You sure you not a Finn poika?
Actually my bro is more famous for take- offs and riding thousands of miles on bikes he paid $100-$300 for.
Low buck touring, keep the costs down and the enjoyment up.
Hey, gotta give him credit! I would just be worried about the bike breaking down under me.
Ron there is a code on the sidewall that gives 4 numbers. The 1st two are month and the 2nd two are year. I may be wrong. You can tell how old that tire is with 20% tread on by reading the code 1198 might be manufactured in November 1998. I could be wrong.
I think not all tires have a date but ones that do are week then year .
01 to 52

Yes. That's it week and year. Good stuff to know when encountering tires of questionable origin.
You'd be surprised what you find in the take off pile. Eg: guy is going on big trip, wants " fresh tire" for trip. Has 30% tread left( often more) but wants to leave with a new tire " so he will make it back home"
That's when a "fresh" tire hits the take off pile. I will leave home with a poor tire if I am going to USA. A new Dunlop 404 on the Glide was over 4$ Hun in Canada with installation and a set of rear pads. I got them for a hunnerd bucks in the States until a couple years ago they went up to $140 . Tires are easy to find and slap on.
Finndian & Backroader : we'll do a tour down the Sino circuit someday. Hit the best roads, great cheap accomadations and stop to see some competition events where real hardcore bike people are trying to win against their opponents.
The Mille Lacs Grand Casino has a pretty good buffet there near the BIR raceway as well as the affiliate Sino in Hinkley, a good stop after or before hitting the $10 tent sites at Hole in the Wall.
Ron did you catch the price tag on the 2WD Ural? Was it 0 miles brand new?
The Ural is 0 miles, brand new. Much better looking in person than the pictures would have you think.
I'll see if Steve knows what it is worth, he's working there again.
I checked them out in AZ. Very cool machines. Very rustic. An eccentric's ride for sure! Brian? The TWD would be just the ticket for your off season meanderings.
Maybe Steve will chime in with some of his recent ride photos. Still waiting to see some of the pics from Bwokentoof.
I always wanted the 2WD Ural. Still do.
I sold my drz. Not for any particular reason, just want to try something else.
If anyone is selling something or knows someone who is send me a pm.
Want to go bigger on the cc's and still be as dirt worthy as the drz.
Looks like I have a little time to look around before riding season.
Great Pics Heckto, you look like you are having a champagne blast on a beer budget. Can't deny I am jealous
How about a Ural GS http://www.ural-land.com/ural-motorcycles-models/ural_gs.html
First you should read this. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=794963
Sounds like your looking for a Ktm 450 or 530exc, tons of power and very dirt worthy. Little more pricey but worth it. Might have to look Southern Ontario though to find one. Good luck!
Great photos once again Hekto!! We have temps around 35, 36 also...35f though
Really nice day today by our standards, plus 2c, sunny and calm...great day for a ride...and ride we did! 70 miles of Lakes, rivers, trails and once again I did damage to the sled guess I'll never learn! Too hot into a corner on the trail and slid across into the bank on the other side and rolled the sled :eek1 It tried to rip my left foot off in the process but all is well...
I think I'm starting to remember why I sold the sled all those years ago!
Those things are dangerous!!:eek1
You'll shoot your eye out, kid!
Ya, they are Ron! But what else is there to do in the winter?
How are you doing Ron? Getting better I hope! Any word on when you'll be ready for the biking season?
Yes I've seen that thread. It didn't scare me away but made me think I would want one of the newer models.
We are having a good time. You need to ride down this way sometime. It seems daunting but is pretty simple actually
