He's one of us. Finndian on the board. Good rider.
Damn, Lappeman. Your funmeter must be just about maxed out.
Sorry to play dumb, Greg, but I cannot translate "noise to horsepower ratio" Is that railway jargon?
I think it means the louder the bike the less back pressure it produces and given the dated engine design the only actual power produced comes from the thrust provided by the pipes. Thus more noise = less power.
But loud pipes do save lives. After one of those belching beasts passes you (rare occation) you slow down to get away from all the noise. oser
I try to max it out as much as possible but this summer has really sucked...for me anyway! In a couple of weeks I'll be spending 7 days kayaking in Quetico! Don't know how that rates on most people's funmeter...but I'm looking forward to it!
Well that explains the Harley factor

Any happenings in ThunderBay this weekend? Might need an excuse to cruise on by.
Been pretty quiet around here lately. Don't know if it's the weather or if everyone is off on an adventure. NorthRider is down in Colorado with BackRoader, not sure where everyone else is! I'll probably be just hanging around home...was going to hare scramble race this weekend in the States but decided not to risk hurting myself. Need to stay healthy for my Kayak trip coming up!
I'm at work.
Kari and I have been tooling around the northern States for the past week. We're in thunder bay tonight and going for breakfast in the morning before I head out.
by luck we crossed paths with Ted Marshall at aero stitch today

I have on my docket to get to the Gunflint Cross to see it. Saturday could be a good day to do this for me. I'm coming up from the States, so meeting at the Silver Mountain Station Restaurant on 588 is one option. Might have to walk a little to get there since some of the trestles are gone, and may limit access. And then, the challenge can be to actually get the moto there.
Hey Mike! Would love to go but my tires are completely bald and could easily get a flat on the backroads down there. Have new tires but no time to change them out! Have a good trip!
I and Gus Chronopoulos on our 1190 R's missed Finndian (and Kari) when we stopped at the awesome Jones Motorsports in Wawa. Russ helped us with directions for a rugged dirt ride to Dubreuville. Two days later visiting Aerostich in Duluth who pulls in but Finndian/Gord and Kari. Small cool world.
That is a good little story. Funny how things like that work out. Ride safe!
Hey guys, Sudbury rider here
new to Advure riding, loving it so far! Came from riding the track on crotch rockets, while new experience here. Always up for weekend rides on the F800GS
Welcome to the forum...I think everyone is out riding or just out
Welcome to the real world of motorcycling .... Lol
Just kidding, I have an "original" crotch rocket and still have fun on it.

Vermillion Bay Fall Ride:
Further to my previous post,
Looks like rooms are available in VBay for the last weekend of September and or the first weekend in October.
Nothing special, rates are about $45.00 to $50.00 per person based on 2 to a room. Continental breakfast included.
The town has the basics, liquor store, gas station and a restaurant..
Looks like that could be fun ... Im sure i could make it that weekend
