Thnx! I was noting a route change... current GPS track shows routing thru Reddit, whereas route highlighted in my Backroad Mapbook a few years back (by a Brit rider who penned it in from his GPS for me - Thnx Adrian!) shows taking a different road to the east. I was wondering about those rail grade sections. I get the impression that there's not that many riders attempting the TCAT this year.

Howdy folks, I recently picked up a nice 2008 Harley Sportster 1200 Custom. It came with a Quick Detach windshield that I do not plan to use. It is a pretty heavy duty and quality windscreen. Just posted it on TBay Kijiji. If you know of anyone interested send them my way and can share pictures and talk a decent deal. I plan to be in thunder bay on the 14th. (cross posted to Winnipeg thread)

I've always wondered why KLR650s emit that unique old VW Beetle whistling sound. It seems many VW owners attribute that sound to variations in the Bug's exhaust. Is this related to the exhaust with the KLR too?

Not sure why they tweet like that...I know some people replace the exhaust and some even drill the center out to get rid of that sound...maybe someone can elaborate on it?

Yes it's "all new" for 2018 except it looks like the FI is the only notable change (and bold new graphics). Good that they brought FI to NA though. It has been on the european bikes for years.
My cold starts are much better than they used to be after jetting and the big bore kit.

The fact the a rider will no longer be required to sneak up on the KLX and quickly push the starter before the bike sees you is a huge bonus.
With the WR out of the line up, Honda and Kawasaki should gain that gap created in the market.
I am still waiting to see if Kawasaki has up dated their major flaw in the 300 Versys... namely the non switchable ABS.

Looks like it's back in the line up. It was not on the web site a few weeks ago. Curious as to why the change. The dealer here in the Peg had mentioned a while back that it cut from the line up. Oh well good news as the list price for 2018 looks like it's staying below $8K.

On another note I got a peek at the new BMW 310 today. Ted cracked open the crate at Wildwood this afternoon. Nice looking bike.

Kind of thinking about an XT250? Price seems right. And I'm pretty casual.

The Kawasaki Digital Fuel Injection system sprays fuel from a 10-hole injector, with Kawasaki claiming easier starting, smooth idling and improved performance while consuming less fuel.

Easier starting? No shit, I have a hole drilled in the airbox and a can of quick start around to get the thing going, if it's been sitting more than a week!

They are a bulletproof little bike. Probably comparable to a Sherpa.

Ron - you may have missed it, but I paid tribute to your entertaining instant starting method a few postings above. :D

Ron, what I got into the habit of doing was shutting off the fuel before getting home so the gas in the carb is used up. Next ride, turn the fuel on and it definitely started much easier than leaving gas in the carb. Don't know why but it worked.
