Beautiful scenery! Looks like you are having a nice drive out to the other coast.
ORexpat, Glad you had a good trip. Let us know when you start posting pics from out there.
I just moved from California back to Virginia - the Gainesville area to be exact and wanted to say hello.
Can't wait to check some of the routes that are posted.
See you guys on the road!
Welcome back to Virginia Jeff!
Check out the NOVA tag thread. Good times had by all...as long as you're not a gator rustler!
Also if you have some warm gear, or a strong will, come on out next weekend and say howdy!
There are some inmates from that area heading out.
hey there . welcome to the circus.
Howdy neighbor! I'm just down Rollins Ford in the 'ville. Amsterdam is in the area too.
Hard to figure out weather to offer congrats or condolences
Either way, glad to have you!
Back on two wheels. Not that it matters to anyone but me. Galfer wave rotors and breaks fixed it. I feel I'm riding a new big beast.
Awesome! Like you, my problem still hasn't gone away. I think my vibration and cornering oddness is coming from the rear. I can't tell if it is the tire or the wheel but am about due for a new rear so I'll balance it and find out. Did you have both the front and rear wheel rebuilt by Woody's? I only had the front done.
Rode 160 mi in two weekdays just "getting the feel" for Meine Frau again.
HBN did you get your wheels back yet? Any problems with the rotors?
Nope. They don't seem to have any uneven wear patterns, pads looked good and except for a slight nick in the right one from a huge rock I hit, seem okay. I haven't checked the rear but that was replaced...umm...50k ago :huh
Both wheels went to woody's. Both go trued and straightened. The front feels amazing after all the work. The back still wobbles when on the center stand really bad. I hope its just the tire with about 50% tread left and I refuse to put a new one on. Like you said if feels funny while cornering but not as bad as before. You can feel it in the back end. On the other hand the bike feels 10000x better on dirt and gravel.
Hope you figure out the rear problem with your rear.
I think its time for Tasker's Gap ATV Park. Maybe we could get a group together soon.
Research is leading me to inspect my final drive for bearing failure, U-Joint slack/wear and the pivot bearings. Whirring and rhythmic resistance and vibrations often stem from these items especially at 70k mi.
If you are still having wiggle in the rear wheel, follow the steps for checking the Pivot Bearings and FD Bearing by checking lateral movement of the tire. When rotating the tire in neutral on centerstand, it should have a slight resistance then freedom, then resistance evenly due to the driveshaft at that angle/pressure. If it is studdering or has any uneven lumpiness to it, further inspect the FD bearing.
Has anyone taken either the MotoMark1 Adventure Off-Road Course:
or the BMW Adventure Bike Enduro Skills Course:
Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Ran a couple of errands yesterday on the RT, and ran the /5 and Dubya just to exercise them, but today I was able to get out while the sun was shining. (Did I mention this is the Pacific NorthWET)?
But I knew that when I moved here. Whatever you enjoy doing, just learn to do it in the rain . . .
Took a loop around the western part of the Kitsap Peninsula this afternoon.
Quarter mile from my house. Road is called "Mountain View" for some strange reason . . .
Near Seabeck. More of the Olympics. Hood Canal and Dabob Bay in the middle ground.
Same spot, another view of the Hood Canal.
At the Seabeck boat launch . . . Olympic Mountains in the background.
Hmm. Wonder why I kept my house here and moved back when I retired . . . .
What a horrible looking place. No strip malls or traffic.
Oh, there are strip mall here . . . but not nearly as many!! And traffic backs up around the shipyard at 1630 or so . . . for half an hour . . .
And then we get a sunny day, and well, just gotta ride!!
Seems like you made a great choice.
Nothing like rubbing it in...
Looks like you are having a good time.
That is a beautiful view!
