Def no judging in the group, well except for maybe a very few but ignore that shit when you come across it, all of it is based in good natured joking around. I started on a 2005 red KLR, you know what happens to the 1st gen red...turns pink in a few years, guess how much shit I got for riding a pink KLR, my reply was it looked pink to you because I blew by you so fast like I was on fire! :lol3

And appropriately enough, it's being worked on and everybody's laughing.

I have to hand it to you DC... Your luggage is a step up from the OEM milk crate. Can you lock it up with zip ties?

Oh, that reminds me. The night I met you at HBN and Dr. Beards BBQ, about 4-years ago. You asked me what bike I had. "KLR". Next words out of your mouth were; "Do you have a milk crate?"

Yeah, it's a makeshift tripod stand. I particularly like the shovel out-rigger.

Hey Mud sorry didnt realize we've met, miss ole HBN, that Actionpacker was an awesome $18 topcase, holds ton of junk, I use a bungee across the lid to the clip handles to lock it. Lasted 5 yrs before stress fatigue got to the plastic where it bolted to the rack.

Greetings...This is my very first posting on ADVrider ever. Been riding for awhile, long time lurker. I think this is the point where everyone takes socks full of bars of soap and rolls of nickles and beats me into the group. I live in NOVA and look forward to meeting, wrenching, and riding with everyone, and hope that beer is involved at some point....

Elkton...that might be doable. Thanks for the heads up on that. Although I live in Vienna, I've done most of my riding west of Woodstock and Newmarket, and am always looking for places a little closer, Loudoun County, etc. I recently picked up a project KLR650, and am looking for the perfect milk crate for it. At some point I'll have to get the engine running, too.

Somewhere in this vast site, there's a map of all the gravel roads around the area. There's a few in Clifton, more in Loudoun, more in Fauquier, a few in Prince William, etc. I know there's a dirt road up the backside of Mt Weather, but I haven't 'found' it yet.

Went out for a ride today. Usual route through Clifton to put about 60 miles on the bike, make sure it's good and I'm good too. Went down Hampton from 123. Got close to where it ends at Henderson and came up on a bad crash. Rider on a black sport bike. EMT's were strapping him to a board and about to carry him to an ambulance.

I doubled back to 123, headed north and took Henderson back in to the same spot. Police were going over what must have happened.

It was bad. I can't speculate on what happened. But the bike was up on a high bank in with a mess of trees. Where they were putting him on the board was probably 30 feet or so from where the bike laid. I couldn't see any skid marks on the pavement. Maybe he left the road at speed.

Hampton is a fun little road. Nice shady twisty scenic biway thats actually banked pretty well. Gets alot of sport bikes on it and no wonder why. But it's too tight for high speed. Too many trees right up to the edge of the road.

Hope the riders going to recover alright. Motorcycle's can be unforgiving. If anybody knows the rider, let him know I'm pulling for a full recovery.

Had a nice ride today - went up to Woodstock Tower, rode Wolf Gap Road and Judge Rye Road, Squirrel Gap Road, and had a tasty fried chicken lunch in Wardensville.
