Well the first tag was on a gravel road. Seemed to work fine.
Yea, state maintained gravel roads should be in play. No private roads. Everyone agree?
That's what iPhones are for.
Pretty sure that is because everyones versions of a "dirt road" is different.
To many this is a dirt road.
I would say that is definitely a trail, looks fun
A dirt (coal trail) road took me here a couple of weeks ago:
State gravel roads in NOVA are fair game.
Dirt road is open to interpretation, as long as it is legal and maintained somewhat, the road is in-play. Just use your best judgment.
As a relatively new rider and one with only about 20 minutes experience on gravel, I humbly request that if your tag requires riding on a gravel road, you say so in your post.
Private roads are on different colored signs than public or VDOT maintained roads. Around the valley, most public roads are on a green sign with white reflective lettering while private roads are on a white/silver sign with green lettering. Not sure your local schemes but this helps keep the game out of private streets and away from angry dogs/owners (not such a problem for you northerners)
Good looking spot, where is that?
Ah hem, you have to get this one first....Nice day today.....
This game works much better when people go after the tags. There are plenty of riders in NOVA and this is an easy tag...
Your wife will understand and you will appreciate the time on your bike.
Yeah, I looked this one up and its a little far for me on the KLR for a quick trip. I thought someone would pick it up or I would have grabbed it Saturday.
wait a minnit...you guys started this, and already I'm seeing (richmond rule #3) flying...hell it's in your back yard, man......and then you want to do the gravel road thing? bwaaaaahaaaaaaa....can't burn 50 miles round trip on pavement....bwaaaa haaaaaaaa...
oh, you have a target rich environment...I was tempted all day.
(stretch NORVA down to SpotsyVille, and we'll come up and play.... )
LOL, Been riding about 3 weeks, so I am trying to keep the rides away from 495/95 traffic. And anyone can grab tags, just no tags in BFE!
Actually you should beg for tags in BFE. Less traffic to contend with, fewer traffic control devices to contend with, and a much less frenetic in general. And I can assure you that anywhere that 495/95 goes to can also be reached by alternate routes.
I never in a million years thought anything in NOVA could be characterized as BFE!
If no one wants it I'll go get it and move it for you.
I'm surprised no one grabbed this yesterday. I was tempted, but Easter festivities and a garage project kept me home all day. Besides, I wouldn't have gotten down there until late in the day, and I figured at that point someone would have beaten me to it.
If it weren't for this job thing, I'd grab it today.
There are some great routes over to this spot avoiding 95 - Furnace or Old Colchester come to mind
If this sits much longer, I'm going to have to ride over MYSELF
Daylight clue perhaps...
