Believe me, RocketMan: I have a completely satisfactory excuse! (One I wouldn't wish on ANYONE.) Expect to be back in the saddle, soon.
G 17 marker on Aden Road and MCB-8 (closed entrance into Quantico Marine Corps Base) just a bit down (east) of Fleetwood at the Aden store.
Ali and I went riding for a bit and just happened to find a really aMAZEing place of MAZE near The Plains. Seems Ali has always wanted to try some maze so we stopped at the entrance but there was too much activity and Ali being the shy creature that she is didn't want to rummage about right there. So I suggested that maybe while she was waiting to try something aMAZEing with MAZE that perhaps a little mental exercise might enhance her appetite so we found a private school just up the road and I dropped her off at the entrance.
The Big picture, note the stone column right behind the bike, to the left of the flowers and bush.
and the close-up, best grab her quick cause I had the evil eye given me by someone pulling out the drive as I was placing Ali in her resting spot.
Remember to think aMAZEing when hunting for her!
GRAB :: the Wakefield school . The plains va
TAG:: find this railroad crossing where ali lies... just west of a historic town that seems to have been lost in the corner .
Ali is hidden under the grey box shown in the photo next to the bike
Grabed & tagged, post in 2 hours or so on the SR so......not in a rush cept whe moving!!!
Damn tin cans and string
RR X-ing 714 390N ( which is how I found it using the Federal RR X-ing database which lists all x-ing by number and/or location)
Also on the road named Maidstone just slightly west of Lost Corner which seems to be more of just an old store than a town nowadays..
Very nice little road told myself I'll have to remember this one, then I got to the south end and realized I'd been on this road but just happened to be going the other way. Funny how different a road can be in opposite directions!
So it seems that while Ali was hanging about in school she overheard a saying which she took a liking to " Go West Young Gater" so she thought it would be good advice to follow, having been said a famous person, so off we went west...
As an aside; Did I ever tell you all about my friends Leads and Mark? NO? really? Well now..
way back when, before most of you were born I knew a guy named Leads who basically had no Manners and guy named Mark who was quite the Ham (he also happened to have a pig, but that's not important now,(or is it?))
Anyway After Leads built a road, Mark decided to build a town at one end of it, dedicated to his recently deceased Ham (Pig) (hmm guess that Was important after all, go figure!). This all happened back in 1818 (or there abouts, my memory isn't all that good from those days). Then another friend of ours decided to start an orchard there some time later, that featured all kinds of fruits and veggies including cherries. Unfortunately a winery got build close by and well, the owner spent so much time imbibing wine and popping cherries it went out of business (the orchard, not the winery, which seems to be doing very well thanks in large part the owner of said orchard!), or at least the one store just down from the post office in town closed up.
Anyway.....I've have to tell you guys all about it some other time...now getting back to business....
The pictorial clues
note left most corner of the building behind that totally magnificent, stunning SR (assuming you can tear your eyes away from its awesome splendor,....)
Up close and personal, under the leaves just where the sting of lights ends and marked by an A
note the small pile of bricks/stones at the corner
and a look down the road toward the post office (that looks nothing like a post office, or even a building currently in use) of said little town.
