Grab....Cherry Hill Road, (Route638), about a couple hundred yards East of HWY 522 just North of Culpeper.

This is on the radio tower access road.....

New tag to come shortly....just uploading pics.

New tag...Here is Dewey nestled in the leaves just at the base of a large tree.

Now covered up with a small piece of wood and some leaves....

Now a little further back and you can clearly see the tree with the small piece of wood covering Dewey just at the bottom right of the trunk....

    and even further back....

Now you can see the bike with the tree to the right. We are looking roughly East on this road. Looks like they have horses around here...

    Yup for sure......probably Fox hunting....

Here is looking West.....the tree you can see now left of the bike....this is the only place on this road where you can see what is in these pics.

If you come at this road from the West and you see this.....you only have a short distance to go before the drop spot. If you approach the road from the East, and you have not yet got the tag and you see this.....you have gone too far.

Now for some additional clues. This is a 3 digit road whose numbers add up to 15. The road itself runs roughly East/West and is about 4 miles long....most of the road is gravel. The tag location is approximately half way along the road. The road name is a homonyn with the word that would go in front of the following words if used in a sentence:

    Hay, Trash, Junk, Wood, Ass.

If you have not been on this road before you should give it a try....fantastic country road....great ride. Good luck.

PS: One thing I forgot to mention is that there is 1 dog on this road that loves to chase bikes, cars, geese, rabbits, anything. Gives you a chance to work on your "Steady speed, Wait till he makes his move, Slow down abruptly, Wait for his turn back, Speed up" technique...it's a hoot watching him try to change directions...:lol3 :lol3

By the way... have you ever heard the old saying "leaves of three - let it be". Check out the tag pictures... dewey is sitting in a small patch of poison ivy.:eek1 You had better wash your hands ..... Oh wait... it may be too late. Regardless, thanks for getting Dewey flying again..... now back to the clue.

Nope ....leaves too large.....I know them well!!! There is some in there but not as much as you think. Hard to find a back country road with none on the sides of the road....I just wear my gloves and rinse them off when I get home.

There isn't much around the duck...some but not much. Now if you are highly allergic then you may be in trouble. You know what they say, "no pain, no gain"!:lol3

I have to give credit where credit is due. If not for Old Man River I may not have found this one. He has been too busy to go grab it and kept telling me to go get it, sooo I just had to grab it!

    Yep, theres Dewey

    New tag.....................

See those logs behind the bike? They are some kind of makeshift bridge across the stonework entrance to a mill race.

Here is Dewey sitting on top of the structure.

And one of his hiding place.

I wedged him into the crack.
And a few more pics of the approximately 600'-700' long race heading downstream...

To this place. It's hard to tell in the pic but the race runs along the overgrown concrete wall down to the big building.

This part must have been made of wood but now all that is left is the abutments

And the front of the building

The 2.5 story stone & frame mill with attic was built by David Brown in 1788 to replace an earlier one built c. 1738 by Jost Hite.

When I first started surveying I could jump right into a poison ivy thicket and not get one little blister. Now that I'm older I will get some small patches but nothing like other people get. Still I don't press my luck...
It's a nice day for a ride in the country.:augie

Grab.....Springdale Road, (Route 649) just South and west of the intersection of Hwy 37 and Hwy 11 South of Winchester. The old Springdale Mill....interesting history on this place if you Google it.

That looks like the logs over the top of the race....about 100 yards or so down the road from the mill......

    Yup there is Dewey......

    and the old mill.....

New tag to follow shortly.....as soon as the pics upload.....great day for a ride....2 tags and about 175 miles.

    New tag......

Here is Dewey hiding behind a stone wall....

Now Dewey is covered up with a rock......

just behind this little stone wall......

And just behind the bike above the top box, you can see the stone wall that Dewey is hiding behind....

Clue: This road has 2 words. The first word shares its name with the first word of a Burt Reynolds movie in 1981 that had something to do with "Sea to shining sea". The second word is the last name , (singular), of the 2nd wealthiest man in the world.
