I woke up bright and early this morning (9:30am) and quickly decided to go fer a ride. Started out by heading towards the mountains. Despite the fact there was a fully functional gps unit mounted to my handlebars, I still got lost. Whitehorse Mountain, right of center. Glacier Peak in the distance. The end of the road. On the way back, Glacier Peak again. I made my way back to the power lines I had ridden under earlier. Since the road I wanted to be on went right past a few dams, I figured these lines would take me there. Fortunately, they did. Ummm, Ok? Finally reached the destination, Slate Peak. Here are the views: To the South. My bike is parked down next to the hippies in the Volkswagen van. The road up to Slate Peak: Obligatory Ross Lake shot. I thought this was great. There is a new sign at the Ross Lake lookout dedicated to Jack Kerouac and other authors/poets who served as fire lookouts back in the 1950's. Mr. Kerouac was stationed on Desolation Peak, which is barely visible in this picture, way, way in the distance.
