I woke up bright and early this morning (9:30am) and quickly decided to go fer a ride.

Started out by heading towards the mountains. Despite the fact there was a fully functional gps unit mounted to my handlebars, I still got lost.

On the way back, Glacier Peak again.

I made my way back to the power lines I had ridden under earlier. Since the road I wanted to be on went right past a few dams, I figured these lines would take me there. Fortunately, they did.

    Ummm, Ok?

Finally reached the destination, Slate Peak.

To the South. My bike is parked down next to the hippies in the Volkswagen van.

I thought this was great. There is a new sign at the Ross Lake lookout dedicated to Jack Kerouac and other authors/poets who served as fire lookouts back in the 1950's. Mr. Kerouac was stationed on Desolation Peak, which is barely visible in this picture, way, way in the distance.

    Nice.
I made it up there last month and got rained on.
Looks like you made it to the lookout.

They are Michelin Pilot Sports. The handling in the curves is superb, on gravel roads they are sketchy, but usable. Definitely not for steep or single track.

And I ought to confess, the bike is actually my girlfriends, I'm just babysitting it for her while she's out of town. My bike is no good on dirt roads.
