    Hello,
Some of you know me from rides and Ephrata cycle gatherings. On May 11 I was involved in a collison with a Jeep. I had the right of way when the jeepdriver drove into me from my right side. The outcome for me was not so good. I spent two weeks in intesive care in Phila HUP and then was then sent to Magee Rehab in Phila where I am now.

The accident has cost me my right leg above the knee and I am now a paraplegic. This is a dissapointment for a guy who has ridden for almost 40 years. I wanted to share this with the people who know me so they will know why I am not around.

The wreck distroyed my new 2012 DL650 which was a 60th birthday present to myself.

I am still around and able to communicate because of my newer HJC full face helmet and Olympia long jacket. That safety gear left the upper body totally intact and undamaged. Buy the best gear you can. It works, I can attest to that. The hospital said that jacket was the most difficult they ever had to cut apart.

So for now its rehab to get back to my new normal.

Be careful out there. and keep me in your thoughts.

That is a horribly life changing event. You're a lucky man in many respects, although you may not feel that way.

think about it positively, you've had 40 years of wonderful time on your motorcycles throughout the years. That's pretty cool by it's self.

I wish you all the best, but as you may know, we're always here for you if you need something.

glad you're still around to talk to us. and prosthetics are good now, you may not have to give up riding if you don't want to.

Sorry to hear this, Terry. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and journey to your new normalcy. Wearing the gear is always a pain until those few seconds when it completely saves your bacon. Glad you were wearing yours!

A note that the police did not see skid marks from my 12 DL650. They are not aware of bikes with ABS so if they question skid marks be sure they know if you have ABS for their reports.

    Thanks for your kind thoughts.

You are now in my thoughts Jerry!
I don't know how I would handle something like this if it happened to me, but I do know how I would handle it when it happens to someone else...I will help however I can!

Keep the inmates (yes, you are one too) updated here and you will have the help of 50,00 people helping you and holding you up.

Did you have an SCI also? As stupid as this sounds, don't let it get to you. Keeping a positive attitude helps in ways you don't even see yet.

Let me know if I can help somehow.

I'm horrified and very sorry to hear this. I recognize your handle from Stromtrooper - we picked up 2012s at around the same time, and posted on a couple of the same threads back in March. I may not know you, but somehow this hits very close to home. I will be extra careful as I ride home today and everyday.

All the best to you and your family as you move forward with life. Good luck, and I hope you maintain your positive outlook.

Horrible news and wishing you the best of recoveries. You seem to have a strong positive outlook and that is so good. It may not feel like it at times but you're blessed... to still be alive and have time to be with family and the ones you love.

Take care of yourself and thank you for sharing to all of us a reminder to be vigilant and take every day as a gift.

I am in West Chester and make trips to the city frequently.. I know we have never met but I love to talk and listen.. Let me know if I can drop anything by for you.. I would be honored to hang around and chat for a bit too! The least I could do is drop by a dinner for you.. Maybe even a cheesesteak! Beats hospital food for sure!

    Terry,
So sorry to hear about your accident. I know Magee Rehab to be the best place around. They will bust your butt over there and you will recover that much faster. I don't think our paths ever crossed but I was aware that you were
around. I ride a red Transalp and might hit Ephrata or Van Sant a few times a year. Good thoughts and prayers out to you. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Yes, I'm behind the keyboard and the upper half is still working well.

Ass for what happened, the jeep driver pulled out into my path. The police are still working on the case but that is what I saw happen in the split second it took for the accident.

Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I will be in rehab for another month so lets hope it gets me more mobile.
