Was chatting with folks in Meat Cove...they said there is a very large pothole in the area of Capstick, rounding a tight turn and not easily visible...some have hit it straight on, ugh! Ride safe!

Just got back from Meat Cove. Got there yesterday around 3. Left 9am this morning.

Wonderful views, disappointed in the services. Sun and decent temps getting there. Never brought supper and was hoping for lobster and a couple cold beverages, which they advertise on their site as available. Restaurant services were not open. No food, no drinks, no amenities for milk in am for tea or cereal for my 10 yr old passenger. Way too far to track back. We had food and water with us, but not what we were hoping.

It was heavily fog and pouring when we left this morning. Some potholes as mentioned above, and marble gravel in places, those sharp turns need to be taken at just about jogging speed, but nothing serious even in those conditions. Non stop rain and heavy fog to Cheticamp, so no scenic stuff was seen, just 200 ft ahead.

    First time there. Cool experience.

The Cabot Trail is amazing though.

Both times I've ridden it I've been underwhelmed in light of all the hype it gets.

Being from the Rock, that's understandable. Similar views are everywhere there. And no white knuckle driving/riding to get there. But that's some of the appeal I suppose.

My Redverz tent in Site 1, my bike near the nose of the rv. (Too steep to get the bike next to tent).
Folks in the motor home are from Germany and on the last of 6 weeks touring from Ont to NS. There 5 days and said it's the prettiest they've ever saw.

I said the next visit to Canada go to NL. (They toured out west last summer). Much of it's coastline will have similar views. I told them to go to Western Brook pond, Twillingate to see icebergs, Cape Spear, and take a run up Signal Hill.

Heading to the Rock on the 15th. Will take another run around the trail in the truck if the weather is better.

That pothole is as big as a bathtub and probably a ft deep.

It's all mud/gravel and on a 90* turn. You'd want to stay to the left as the right of it is trees and cliff.

Slow pace around the muddy turns and all is good.

I'll bring home some local Nova Scotia craft beers and I'll drop over.

I'll try to nudge RTWPaul and El to show up at the same time, might be doable as they were still in NC just 2 days ago, CBerry is coming through a week ahead, otherwise we could have a nice little rally:D

Well crap, dude. We're headed to NL on Saturday. Would have liked to meet up again after chatting last year at Cro-Mag.

CBerry is planning to land at the house on Thursday. Sphene and Joon can't be far behind. RTWPaul and El I'm guessing are about a week out.

Just read this thread, I have a rough idea of where I want to go (North/East side of the island mainly). I'm leaving in the fall (October 6th) from Toronto and have 9 days to go out and back. My question is, wild camping around NS, is it easy? I planned to stop at campgrounds/wild camp on my to and from NS but curious about NS itself
