Yup, I felt the sightseeing part of the trip was pretty much over upon leaving Tatamagouche (but that's always the case as one gets closer to home).

Returned after 42 yrs to find the place, well populated. Camped on the beach and enjoyed a cup of camp coffee before the crowds woke up. 0801171812a.jpg 0802170724.jpg

I was on Marine Drive in July and there are a few bad bits, but I'm speaking from the perspective of a Versys rider with lousy front suspension. It was a blast, and easy to avoid the worst potholes in the asphalt.

The construction is slated to be finished this weekend, but we all know what that means. Lol.

Construction on 316? They sure weren't close to finishing 2 days ago.Maybe by the end of the week? Will still leave plenty of bad pavement to test one's suspension.:lol3

Craptacular, I replied to the wrong thread.

I was referring to construction on the Cabot Trail.

Pretty sure the guy is an inmate here. Rides an 1100 Blackbird with a hack.
Nice fella from south of the border.

I made it into Nova Scotia today from PEI and tomorrow I'll make the run from Pictou to Sydney to catch the ferry. I'll be back Wednesday morning and plan to start the Cabot Trail then. I'll have a few days to fool around before leaving on Saturday.

If you are interested in doing some gravel while on the Cabot Trail, there is Highland Road that runs through the heart of the Cape Breton Highlands for 80km from Wreck Cove down to the Rifle Range off of 19.

There is also an old airstrip up there, as well as cows on the loose up on the commons.

The worst stretch is the gravel hill climb to the crest after which it becomes a pretty easy ride all the way south.

I made the hill on a fully loaded Versys with 80/20 tires following a KLR.

There are a couple of scenic overlooks, but you will need a topo map or local knowledge to find them.
