Time for More Clue! I just got back from an after-work spin up Old Bush Highway on a hunch. The hunch was that this was not where I need to look. I was right.

Based on available clues I'm looking in that general region, around that particular reservation, but a half a cattle guard is a needle in a haystack when trolling Google Earth.

There are few places where the game boundary and a tribal boundary nearly intersect. I saw a star mountain out there too if that helps.

That helps me tremendously! Hopefully it doesn't help other players.

Ironic, I had ruled out that area for specific reasons visible in your pic. That's what drove me to the only other res on the frontiers of our play grounds.

.....but I've still gotta troll GE looking for half a needle in what is now a smaller haystack.

Nondescript cattle guard in the middle of nowhere, oh good one... Here's some info about the Star mountain which is in the general vicinity of seven mile mountain... "The most reliable route starts from the Jackrabbit Trail Exit off of Interstate-10 in Buckeye-Goodyear...There used to be an approach from the south from state route AZ-238 at the little town of Mobile, but in November 2009..." http://www.summitpost.org/sierra-estrella-peak/262241 Also keep in mind that somebody lives in that general vicinity, so I was going to start looking in that area when I get back from here...

It is simple to find in real life w/o google earth. There's not a lot of stuff in that hood to confuse you :). Finding a store in the mall is a far more arduous task :D

....maybe so for the guy who was already there. ;) I figure I've got enough information that I'm planning on rolling out that way and try to match up the realestate with the image provided. If I can do that, the needle will grow and the haystack will shrink and I'll catch my first Tag. :clap

    New Tag:

I was trying to Tag the dam that never fills, near where the tiny airplanes fly, but it's all sealed off now. So I decided to do some shopping where the mountain used to be.

    Find The Trophy:

From the big R on the sign, turn about face and find it tied to the fence post in the bush.

Should be fixed. Google Drive sucks for sharing pics. Switched to something else more "public friendly".

Looks good on my end! Even the "mishap..." Cool tag Blue!

Verscootin, did you go through the reservation to place the tag? We came across some tire tracks that were headed towards or coming from the 238?

I like it. But I was thinking if I found a way to that dam, where the hell do you leave a trinket on a 50' high, 200 yard long concrete wall?

Nicely done Blue! Looks a lot wetter out there than when I went.

I didn't ride the Rez, but it would have been a lot faster had I. I came up from Mobile and roughly paralleled the power lines. That link you posted about it not being a viable route is wrong, conditions change year to year...see that crown king RR posted yesterday? I just did that in July in 2wd, probably couldn't even make it in my truck now.

What a poor sport. Sounds like I should have put DK on it instead ;)

Go near where the rock is in the river, but don't camp in the creek/wash.

The trophy is hanging on a tree in a cave right behind where I took the photo from

Negative, Ghostrider! Google Earth says you can. Signage on the ground says you can not. The entire Cave Buttes Recreation area is sealed. Granted it's not sealed well, but with our Legal Access rule, that zone is out. Sucks, I grew up on a dirtbike in exactly that hunk of desert. If you know a legal way in there that I don't know about, PM me, lets set up a ride. Nostalgia is drawing me back there.

i'll give that to ya for the sake of the tag rules. i didnt say it was legal, but its most definately not sealed. i rode out there after the new pkwy was opened up and from said pkwy there is not one single no trespassing sign, or at least not then. i knew better but went anyway and it was very strange to be back out there after so many years, but you didnt hear it from me.

Last time I was in there was about 10 years ago and I rolled through a broken fence then. Saturday it was killing me. I found four places I could have entered, but each was clearly dis-legal. I don't want to commit crimes against the state by riding a dirtbike on dirt......let's not get me going on trail closures....that conversation only ends in jail time for me. :eek1

Next Tag. I got a bead on it, but wonder if time is on my side.
