Well after drilling out the brass plug the check ball that came out was smaller than anything i could find along with the spring. So I suppose I'll just order a new float bowl and see if that fixes the jetting issue

Looking closely inside the float bowl hole where the ball seats, do you see any reason for the check valve not working, dirt or corrosion?

The check ball had some pitting or galling but I'm not sure where to find one that small or where to find some brass to replace the plug. By the look of this one I'm sure the one at the bottom of the pump needs to be replaced also. There cant be much more that can be wrong with this circuit.

Took a little detour through the Tucson Mountains just west of Tucson on the way home from my parents' place this morning. Some nice smooth, yet sandy trails were perfect for a off-road excursion. The weather is near perfect today.

Some help here, I bought a Rick's Motorsport CDI and the instructions tell me to plug the supplied pigtail wire into the open position on the 4 gang connector. On my bike, the only open position is on the 2 gang connector. Do I use this one or do I not need the pigtail at all?

Yes, use the open socket on the 2 pin connector and then ground the ring terminal to the frame or engine. I remember doing this on mine. It should just click right into the plastic connector. There might be a small rubber plug in the unused socket. Just push it out with a paperclip or something similar.

Let me double check. Gonna pull the tank to see where mine is installed.

Yes, use the open spot on the 2 pin. Verified after removing my tank.

Thanks man, love these forums! Do you also have a Rick's CDI?

So after showing my situation to several moto shops around Houston I found a carb at a lawnmower repair shop that had an accelerator pump on it. I've carefuly extracted the ball, spring, and brass plug to take measurements before I slammed them into my good carb. I can find the ball bearing no problem now that I know the size but the spring and brass plug I'm not sure about.

The brass plug was 3.2 x 3.2mm. I forgot to measure the length of it as you can see a little tapered piece probably just to hold the spring. Otherwise its cubed.

The spring was 2.25mm compressed and 5mm uncompressed with an O.D. of 7/64 (2.778mm). Wasn't really sure how else to measure a spring.

The check ball itself was just a 1/8 ball. Probably going to find some stainless steel ones next time around.

Wire diameter and number of active coils are pretty important too.

Here's how to calculate the spring you need https://www.acxesspring.com/spring-calculator.html

In a pinch you can get some music wire and wind your own.

.nanorc, you might want to just buy this one on ebay. I've dealt with him and he is a reputable seller. The listing does not show the lower pump cover, but he may have that separately, worth asking him. But if the check valve in your cover tests good you should not need to replace it.

Piano wire is an interesting concept, might come to that. The coils can be counted from the picture still but too late to measure the other. Maybe someone can still source one from what we have.

Yea I'm just paranoid that I'll get another one that might be clogged or I might get it clogged again later.

Not likely, yours is the first mention of accel pump problem I've seen in the 602 pages of this thread.

So that's why I couldn't find anything on this. Guess I had to be the unlucky bastard.

I got a float bowl ordered from him but also sent him an email about the accel pump cover as he didn't have one listed for sale and it didnt come with the bowl. I saw one in the diaphragm kit set but I didn't want to shuck out $100 for just that if my diaphragm works already. Just being cheap I suppose.

@scrambler66 Do you have any skid plates and crash bars left?
