"Dirt bikes are loved by many riders in Queens but not loved by police. Riding in the streets can be unsafe for both riders and pedestrians. Railroad Park may be the solution. Members of the Parks Committee are discussing turning the 16 acres of unruly terrain into a dirt bike park." - Motorcycle Safety School

I was looking at a google map for a "forest"... are they talking about the triangle between Garrett St, 129th ave, and Bedell? That looks way too small for any sorta park to ride.
I don't know Queens very well, so if I'm way off base, that's why.

Northwest Randall's Island is a better place for a dirtbike park.

They should make it electric-only and watch sales take off.

looks like it to me. there's a big project complex across the street, lots of stolen dirt bikes in that area. better to let them do whatever in a small park then whatever on public streets.

I'm sure you will have to have a license and show insurance to ride there. This will probably do very little for the stolen dirt bike crowd. Maybe they will become legit in order to ride there but I doubt it.

interesting, must have been a crackdown today. cop (real not traffic) in a car drove up to my bike (parked), checked if there was a plate on the back (there was) and drove off.

Keep your park because we're going to continue to ride on the city streets & sidewalks and there ain't nothing you can do to stop us. Save the parks for the homeless crack heads.

He asked if I was on Drugs. Made me get off on the next exit and told me to call a friend to pick me up. Weather was really bad...

I must say, I lost a bit of my taste for risking it on days with a chance of snow. After a get-off in the snow a couple years ago which resulted in a broken rib... Well, it's just not worth it to me anymore.
