The sooner they start enforcing the speed limit, the sooner we repeal the speed limit laws. :deal

IF the speed limit was enforced in NYC.. REALLY enforced... I'd give it about two weeks before City Hall and the DOT were surrounded by people with pitchforks and torches.

Can you imagine enforcing the 40 mph speed limit on the entire length of the FDR? Or, 45 mph on the LIE? :lol3

I thought it was 35 in a few places. Good luck with that, too.

I derive much amusement from watching the effectiveness of the speed cameras in South Korea. Everyone has a GPS receiver on the vehicles, even little 50cc scooters and a few bicycles. Most are programmed with the speed limits and locations of cameras. They flash red if you're approaching a camera too fast. Results is waves of slow-downs right around the camera and as soon as folks are past it, it's back to pedal to the metal.

My absolute favorite place to watch this is on the highway from Seoul to Incheon. Long, straight and well protected from livestock, so a great place to let your Lambo stretch is legs. I'll see someone doing upwards of 150 MPH, then see smoke pouring from the tires half a mile before a camera, then hear the engine scream back to redline a couple of seconds later.

    Yeah, big safety improvement there.

If the city's gonna install speed cameras, how about on the East River bridges? How many of you obey the 30mph speed limit, especially early morning when no one else is on the bridge? That'd be a quick way to raise some revenue.

I might be in the minority here and if I ever get a ticket from one I will be pissed. But I do not think the cameras are a bad thing. I see how stupid people drive by me school during arrival and dismissal. Where my school is there is no speeding, but stupid u-turns, rushing around double parked cars, etc.
But if they keep the rules down to school zones I have zero problem with it. Does anybody know what the cushion you will get with them?

In other states the cushion is between 5 and 10 mph (though I have heard some states are 10+). Honestly, it seems like the traffic cops that are out and about should just be writing tickets for wreckless/aggressive driving. That's the most dangerous thing I've seen in the city. Most people drive a little bit fast, but there are some absolutely crazy fuckers that should be given crazy tickets to match their driving. That would help.

Howdy guys. My girlfriend crashed her bicycle last week and fractured her pelvis in two spots. She's going to be discharged from the hospital in a few days and I'm having a devil of a time tracking down a competent wheelchair seller who takes her insurance.

Do any of you FF's have a wheelchair, crutches, or a walker that she could borrow for a month? She's 5'3", so she needs normal people sized stuff :rofl

Please PM if so! I'd be eternally grateful. We are in downtown Brooklyn / Chelsea, but can come to you!

I have a set of crutches (adjustable) I used for two days you can have. I can drop them off tomorrow morning or afternoon. Let me know.

Sorry to hear about her accident, hope she heals quickly.

    Hoping for a speedy recovery.

What kind of insurance do you have? If your gf went to the hospital and received inpatient care, she should be receiving a wheelchair. Is there a social worker in charge of your case? Usually there is one for inpatient care and they should be able to refer you somewhere.

Most medical equipment places in Chinatown will take all insurance.
