This mayor's such a POS. He's got that same double standard with guns if you think about it. It's okay if he's surrounded by them, just so long as absolutely no private citizens have any (including people out of his city)...

On a side note, the last time I rode through Times square was about 8 years ago, and I'll never ride through it again willfully. I was actually riding with a buddy who happens to be a cop (another state) who wanted to see TS at night while visiting. Of course we were pulled over too.

It'd be great if we could just use the old Jedi mind trick; "This is not the drone you're looking for".....

It's a familiar pattern to those of us who grew up with authoritarian regimes. Their executive investigative arms generally practice the philosophy that there are no innocent people, and that once you have been stopped some infraction must be found.

It helps justify the means and preserve the principle of their infallibility.

From a visible point of view they didn't do much. Checked a couple of obvious lights and the plate/registration and that was it. Unlike the HWY guys who have been known to whip out tire depth gauges. What I find more intriguing was (a) the dumb looks on ther faces while they were looking at my paperwork and (b) the time it took them to do whatever it was they did with it. It should only take a moment to run it all. Probably ended up being a nationwide search for an unpaid $5 parking summons from Bumfuck Iowa in their desperation to find something to nail me for. And then another moment to add me to the NYPD's super top secret database of people like me.

If anyone is interested, Absolute Cycle Experience is running a special price for a trackday at NJMP/Thunderbolt for Monday (8/19). For only $135, and NO MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED, you can do a whole day there.

    http://www.absolutecycle.com/raceshop/index.php?target=categories&category_id=146

That's a good deal! Usually, it's maybe $100 more, membership included.

Anyway, I signed up -- so if you go, just look for the Sasquash in the blue textile suit and orange helmet, on the KTM 950 SMR. :ricky

    i hate this fuckin' city.

i can order a gas powered chainsaw with a 16" bar from woot and have it shipped to work or home. i cannot order a pocket knife with a 3" blade and have it shipped here. :huh

do you think they have random mandatory profiled chainsaw "inspection" checkpoints as well as motorcycle checkpoints? do you think i'd catch any flak for walking around the city with a running chainsaw? #temptedtotry

That doesn't make sense. Either the vendor is retarded or you didn't mention you were ordering a switchblade.
