    APRIL 17, 18, 19, up the Trask.

Ok..somehow, it became apparent that a shindig or something should be put together, so this is it.

We have scouted out a nice spot, on the east fork of the Trask River in Tillamook County. Originally planned for the county campground, I decided it could not properly contain this group. So, we will be securing a couple of designated dispersed campsites actually within the OHV area, about 14.5 miles from Tillamook, and 5 miles from HWY 6 by freshly graded logging road.

**Disclaimer** This is not an organized event and there is no cost to attend. I will be camping there with my family and I will be riding during the day, and drinking into the night. Anyone is welcome to come and camp and ride as it is a public area. I am not responsible for anything that may occur :deal ***

    To Quote my friend Raindog:

I only ask that you leave any "herbal remedies" or "deserts" at home as my kids will be here and this is the county where I work. This group is amazing and it has never been an issue. Nuff said.

I will be arriving on Friday morning to set up some tents on the two spots we have in mind. If something occurs that these are taken, I will post up Friday before noon and giving directions to the new camp. These are large spots and right next to a large gravel staging area parking lot that can accomodate lots of vehicles and campers. Bring what you want, we'll find room.

    Here are some pictures:
    Plenty of parking

    Plenty of room for tents

The river is just a couple of steps away

    Lots of room

There is a fenced area directly across the road where kids can run around and more tents can be set up (kids are encouraged, as long as they go to bed and don't interfere with the consumption of adult beverages :1drink ). This site is on the end of a dead end that ends at a fish hatchery, so limited traffic to kick up dust or bother the party.

Did I mention that this is in the OHV area? Thats right, no plate needed. Just ride from camp and you have hundreds of miles of riding and can hit such places as Triangulation Point, all of the Tillamook Burn and even the Upper Nestucca OHV area. All skills levels from dirt and gravel roads, to ATV trails to Jeep Trails to hairy single track. Or just ride Trask Rd. to the beach, the Cheese Factory, the Air Museum..or Pelican Pub for a brew. I will have a few guys that know the area on hand to guide or describe, but if your smart, just stop at the Forestry Center on HWY 6 and pick up a huge detailed map for $10. I will have one posted in camp.

There are vault toilets about a mile or two away at the county park and plenty of trees!

I will be bringing a few bushels of those, as Peterman puts it:
    :dg

LoudAl has a GPX track for the camp's location, PM him and he will send it. But it's real simple to find it:

There is an easy cut across road on HWY 6 at about mile post 12 you access from Kansas Creek Rd (but there are two marked this). It's a short 3 mile graded logging road over a ridge and down into the Trask basin, then about 3 miles to camp.
    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...441465,-123.601856&spn=0.089129,0.212002&z=13

I'll post paper plate ADV signs but it might be better to follow Al's track or just take Trask Rd up from Tillamook.

From Hwy 6, as you enter the open valley, Look for the sign for Trask River Rd. Take a left on Olson Rd., which after a stop sign, turns into Trask River Rd (don't miss the left turn at the second stop sign before a large bridge), then continue up into the forest following the river for about 13 miles (you'll pass the Trask County Park..keep going straight). When the pavement is going to end, you come to a small one-lane bridge, the road then turns to dirt. After about 6/10ths of a mile or so, take the first left across the small bridge and follow it straight back to the fish hatchery. Stop at the drunken fools right before the hatchery gates. :clap

Any questions PM me. Check back, because I'll probably update crap as I remember it. Ghost Runner has offered to come early Friday to help set up and I welcome anyone else to come as well.

Linkweewee: Be advised, there is tons of downed trees in the area due to wind and crap loads of scraps from logging that we can burn..so bring the wood you want, but there should be plenty around for us to scrounge up and satisfy your insatiable arsonistic tendencies (bring a chainsaw) :clap

For those who want to ride, but sleep in a warm bed at night, here are a few options:

    http://www.shiloinns.com/search_res...C=0&_QuText=+&_SpcRate=&BS=88888888&x=65&y=10

There are several more options if needed...but heck, its oregon, its gonna be beautiful!! BTW, I don't see reservations being an issue this time of year :1drink

You just now figure that out? :lol3

I would be fine with any of the options, and although I'd lean towards Diamond Mill (Re: ride dirt bikes right from camp). Cape Lookout would be the nicest, but but would cost the most (Re: bail money).
I think the Trask option would be a better fit for all.

The weekend of the 18th works perfect for me OC.

The next weekend of the 25/26, i'm hosting a Oxygen in Beer workshop that Sunday the 26th at Widmer.

I don't care where we camp, just as long as you bring some oysters out!

    Prost!

I figured most would want to ride in..so Trask accomodates the most for sure and is much nicer than camping at Diamond Mill. Trask park is about 3 miles from HWY 6 on a logging road. But as I said, you could probably just ride from the campground to the forest roads, then to the trails..if you know what I mean...it's 12 miles from town..:deal

:dunno You can still ride to #1..on all paved if you want. Cape Lookout is beautiful, but lets just say, you would have to behave yourselves there..it is a family campground and very strictly enforced as such (ie; 10pm quiet time), which is fine with me, but wanted to make sure people understand that :1drink Yeah, you're probably right about keeping you FF's from my neighborhood :freaky

A sticker maybe in the works :evil
