Does anyone know if i could get some off road riding training on big 1200cc bikes (such as the BMW R1200GS) in the New England area?

    I live in southern NH.

If not, are there individuals in the area, who can help me?

I want to get my techniques right so i can improve my confidence.
    Got me some TKC80 tires.

    thank you
    jim

Check out MotoVermont; they do training tours for big and intermediate displacement bikes with some great roads, food, and lodging thrown in. Great group of guys and super knowledgeable. Not cheap, but it's the least expensive upgrade you can make to your bike!

Don't crucify me, because this is just a thought, but: buy a dirtbike, ride that, xfer those skills over to the big bike.
Could be less intimidating and cheaper than dropping your tanker on some fire road, or worse, kissing a tree with that big rig.

Whereabouts? I am in S NH as well. I have taken several off road training courses, no expert but I could show you some of the basics.

    Hi caymann,

I am just south of the NH/MA border. I ride dirt roads in your area quite a bit. If you want to go for some rides, I may be able to show you one or the other thing about riding a large displacement adventure bike in the dirt. Let me know.

So if you call up Planet Dirt down in Plympton, MA they may let you bring a big bike to their beginner dirt bike class. They said it's up to the individual instructor but as a company policy they're ok with people bringing their own bike to the class.
