Might as well try to corral all the baseball stuff into one thread. Maybe it will catch fire that way.

    Colorado-Phillies is underway.

The thing I love... and fear... about the playoffs is that a team which dominated in the regular season starts from scratch all over again. All that good work counts for nothing (except home field advantage.) Philly had a relatively untroubled season, while Colorado had to scrap for a wildcard slot. But now they're even.

The thing that has pissed me off for over 20 years is this f'n bullshit where the mid market teams have to play their playoff games in the middle of the f'n day! wtf!!! I have to endure 162 f'n games to NOT see my team play in the playoffs?

Philly's a pretty big market. :dunno

The Yankees are playing right now. You'd have thought they'd put that game in prime time.

Don't get me wrong, i love to see Philly crushing the Rockies.
    I absolutely despise Co.
I just don't think they can fend off LA.

These best of five series really put the first game losers in a huge hole.

St. Louis is suddenly in a bad spot.

I was surprised at how ineffective Carpenter was. I expected him to pitch a strong game, but he was clearly uncomfortable the whole time he was out there, and his command suffered as a result. He walked four guys (a career high), hit another, and was missing his spots all night. Carpenter has been very solid in his previous postseason outings, so last night's performance is somewhat mystifying.
I still think the Cards have a decent shot at winning this series, but losing Game 1 with your ace on the mound never helps.

so, I don't know about anyone else, but I really dislike the red sox. they're the one team that gets in our angel heads in the post-season. we are 1-9 since 2004 in post-season games against those pricks. of those 94 innings, we have had the lead in only 7.5 of them. wtf? I'd rather play the yanks.

to make it even less palatable, in my experience, they're the one team whose fans are truly classless. without fail, some sux clown will make drunken overatures to fight an entire section of men, women, and children at every game out here.

maybe Kazmir is enough to get us through them this time. maybe getting robbed in boston a few weeks ago will have them up for it. they just need to get over the mental side of it.

Goodness, the Phillies' stadium sure got quiet in a hurry.

Bottom of the ninth, trailing by a run, two out, two on, crowd roaring for a comeback win... line drive into the glove of the Rockies' second baseman.

    Instant silence. Amazing. :lol3

Cards are 0-2 and need to sweep to win the series. Probably ain't gonna happen.

162 games and then wham, bam, thank you m'am.
