Was it your 950 or the 640? What happened?
Reminds me of some river rats I know... they only float downstream.
Neither, It was my 690. The fuel pump died. That was the end of my trip.
Trucked the bike back to Berkeley. I am sure your birthday ride went a lot better, and cant wait seeing some pics .
Who knew a meet & eat in Oakland could involve so much carnage. Sounds like quite an adventure.........
Had a great time in Death Valley. Here's my NARR*.
* Not A Ride Report
Nice report! Lol
Sorry I missed the last meet-up. My calendar app crashed last week, and I lost a bunch of information. I didn't remember the date of the meet-up until after I had already missed it. Hope a good time was had by all. Catch you at the next one.
Hey all, just moved to the area, and looking for some people to ride with.
I'm riding a 450x, so not looking for hundreds of road miles. Just looking to lay down 50-100 miles of single track.
I came from Tucson, I'm not 18, and I take good care of my bike.
I realize this may not be the perfect place to ask, but had to give it a shot!
Suggestions on other local forums, etc...are appreciated.
If anyone is trying to get dirty this weekend, let me know...thanks!
For other forums, theres BARF (bay area riders forum) and south bay riders--a quick google will get you the urls.
For single track, the closest you're going to get is CA OHV parks--Carnegie and Hollister are the two closest, plenty of fun but a "park" nonetheless.
Is your 450X plated? You may have issues as a now-resident of California, but that's your decision
Good real single track can be found up in the Sierra--places like Georgetown, Foresthill, Gold Note Ridge are within the upper limits of a day trip, but I normally take the camping trailer and make a couple-three days out of it.
AMA District 36 has some resources for riding as well.
Thanks for the reply Dog!
I had the X plated in AZ, and am planning on plating it here as well. We'll see how it goes.
I did find the D36 site, and looking at heading out to Carnegie as a first trip.
Left my old trailer in AZ, need to pick up another one out here.
Anyone have a 5x8' they want to get rid of?
You could have fun stretching the 450's legs on this one:
A bit of a drive so a good multiday event.
I don't think you will be able to retain the plate on the 450 here in Kommiefornia though.
Welcome, where do you live?
Southbayriders is also a great forum to go meet dirt riders
Met a guy with an ADV patch on his jacket this weekend at the Bring Your Own Big Wheel event (good alternate use for dirt armor!). Pointed out this thread, so hi. I'm Jeff, now from Redwood City. I used to ride dirt in Maine. Right now I just have a Concours 14.
Blah, blah, motorcycles, distance, fun, if I knew where to ride dirt out here I'd get some knobbies... see you guys at brunch sometime?
Welcome. Keep an eye out here for next meet and greet. You've got the perfect bike to ride down to the Warped event coming up. That would give you a taste of the true picture of ADV degenerates.
...never could figure out how to hold my pinkie finger, so I stopped doing brunch...
Next East Bay Meet and Greet:
Maybe April 10?
I can do the 10th.
We could try the new place next to beer revolution i spoke of last time. They have food too. The owner of Beer Revolution bought the space next door and its nice and set up for bigger parties.
35 beers on tap. Parking right out front on the street.
The Olde Depot 468 3rd street, Oakland.
And I won't post some long menu this time....you can just trust me on this one
Vegan food? I don't trust you Chris.
According to their website, the Olde Depot is having a special food pairing event on the 10th. Might not be a good night for a bunch of smelly bikers to show up expecting to be able to all sit together and hang out (and park easily).
Well we could "brown bag" it and just drink beer.
Hey that was me, you're cool dude!
Lets go ride
