I've been jonesin' for Ural for more than a few years. Was out today at the new dealer lookin' at them...again. Gonna cost 15 big ones for a new one. So come home to think about it ( just retired ) and checkin' the local ads ( and bank account ), I come across a 2013 Tourist with spare, tonneau cover and windscreen on the hack, with only 480 miles. for $ 7700. And only 9 miles away. I think I'm in trouble. :1drink

Some people actually prefer the carbureted bikes. I'm no expert, but I think the price is pretty low...but I haven't been following them for a few years. A friend is asking $8k for his '10 GU, and it's been on the market for 3 months or more. Excellent condition, for a rig that's been used as the GU was designed for.

I'm going on 35 yrs of sidecar ownership, have had a few different bike and sidecar outfits and one Ural. The Ural was cool, looked neat, got a lot of attention, but it was the worst all around sidecar outfit I have ever had. For the money you have to pay for a new one you can find plenty of other used outfits for far less money. Even used Urals for much less. My 2 cents. :-)

So why haven't you bought it yet ?:D

Don't get all caught up in the too typical of here act of questioning what's good or bad for a certain year and what mods should or shouldn't be done.
If you want a Ural and can afford one, just blooming go and buy it.
Anything at all can be changed out, modded or repaired very easily or fairly easily.

I agree with the comment above....some folk prefer carbs over injection.
I'll never buy a fuel injected Ural.

Several years ago I test drove a 2014 FI and a 2013 carb'd bike back to back and I liked the 2013 better. I think part of the reason I liked the 2013 better was it drove much better than the 14, so setup was probably part of the reason. I don't know any of the history of the bike yet, but at the bike show several weeks ago, someone mentioned that there was a 2013 in my town that was going to be coming up for sale, so this is probably that bike. I've read much about the Urals so I pretty much know what to expect.....# 1 being don't be in a hurry. I've had several Airheads and do almost all my own wrenching so working on it shouldn't be an issue, but I prefer to maintain my bikes vs having to fix something, if that makes sense. Right now, figuring out where to keep it is my main issue. And the fact that it is a 2013 with no warranty and only 500 miles on it

My two cents -- don't buy a Ural with less than 10,000km. By that time, all the stuff that is likely to break has already broken and been fixed. On some other guy's tab, not yours. If you're concerned with cosmetics, you can completely repaint the entire rig and still be many thousands of dollars ahead.

Read my thread. Definitely worth the risk if you are mechanically inclined. Buy it, ride it for a few thousand KM, and sell it to someone else as broken in :lol3

I'd offer them $7200 while the weather is still cold and see if they go for it. Expect some small annoyances (carb jets, possibly an out of round wheel, first oil change will look like a horror show) and you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you need someone to test ride it for you, ask here and I bet someone will volunteer (if I was closer, I would).

I love the red color. If it was available when I got mine, I would have scooped it up.

    NOT A REVIEW

Last week wife & I went to two Ural dealers.
One had no insurance so Urals could not be ridden.

To be honest the wife get Ural up dates & more & more she likes the new colors & some of the understood improvements.
She has her MC & three wheel vehicle school & license.
So she thinks she knows what she wants.

Sidecars are not new to her as a driver.
One dealer really stood out to her & the test ride was a seller.
    I also drove the 17 & 18 while there.

To my standards the new injection system is far better over the two carbed models we have owned earlier.
There are also many other changes but the fuel delivery system was smoother & warm ups were near instant.

There may still be a lot of concern about new technology getting matched up to old designs.
Actually this injections system in not state of the art.

I think some riders just like to tinker w/ their carbs.

Congrats! Were you able to talk them down any, or did you have to pay asking price? Seemed like a good deal either way.
