Oil Cooler lines -- Aftermarket?

    I just ordered a Spiegler brake line today for my RT to S conversion.

    Some of my conversion is cosmetic as well as the fairing conversion.

    Like for instance, I would like to change out the oil cooler lines to something more blingy.

    I bought the Spiegler with Titanium ends and Smoke colored line.

    Anybody know of something available for the cooler lines?

    If you want the satisfaction of making your own ( which isn't hard) you could buy the fittings and hose from a place like Earles or Goodrich. I don't know if they do Ti fittings but the braided steel hose with anodised aluminium fittings looks quite bling.

    I made all the lines when I did my Porsche. For a few lines, I'm thinkin' I would prefer to buy them. As soon as you posted that, my finger started hurting from the wires that used to live in them. If you don't have the factory cutting tool, they can be a bear with the little wires on the frayed end. I cut them with a air cutoff tool and had all sorts of fun! On small lines like this maybe a dremel would work.

    I'll look into it, but for instance, that Custom Brake line from our friend Ted Porter was $61 and he charged $5 shipping.

    That Titanium above is just a color. No issues there.

    That's what I do. One word of caution. The new regular fittings rust big time in no time. I have some regular Earls (made by Goodrich) fittings on my bike that I have had for 25 years but they don't cadnium plate them anymore. My advise is to go stainless.

    Do you know the specs on the "ends", and what size line to get?

    Most run #3 line. You just get ends for #3 lines with the right tread pitch where needed.

    Those are unique threads on the fittings, cant remember what they are.

    None of the threads are unique. All you have to do is measure them. That's what I do since I don't have the thread pitches memorized. Earls has all the threaded parts needed.

    The #3 line recommendation was for brake lines. The threads are metric for both the brake and oil cooler lines. The line size is AN but the threads are metric. I don't know what size those oil lines are. 4 or 5? Does that thread you linked list the thread and line sizes? You could always go measure them yourself. That would do you more good if that link doesn't list the sizes and you want to shop around. Or if that link has a typo and gets you the wrong size from somewhere else.

    I don't trust my expertise on determining the thread type.

    If it is pipe thread, then it would be easy.

    I already answered that question twice in post #12. Metric, NOT AN. Plus if you are not using banjo bolts on the calipers, they take a special fitting that interference fit seals below the threads. Not all of them do. If I have time today, I will measure some threads for you.
