Old Carb Question

    Hey All:

    Time to work on the old beater bike that my bride rides occasionally. I went to start it up, and upon turning on the tank petcock, gas started running out the drain-tube on one of the carbs. I assume that's not right. :D

    The bike is a Honda CM400T (twin) circa 1980 vintage. Gas appears to be running straight through the left carb, like a spigot. I'm wondering if it's a stuck float? Any tips what else to look for before I dive in? No gas leaking out the petcock, or fuel-line to the carbs.

    Any good sources for rebuild kits for these old pumpers if that's what it comes to? This one doesn't go to the shop much... I usually try to muddle through on the old girl (the bike). Thanks for any input.

    It sounds like the float is stuck and or the needle is not seating tight. Try tapping on the float bowl, when that dosnt work you will need to remove the float bowl and see what is in there that is not clean fuel. emti

    But I always tap first,2nd blow through the fuel line,and if that doesn't get ya results then take it apart,banging with a wrench and a blow job will often loosen things up and stop the free flow.

    Thanks for the tips.

    Got it stripped down most of the way- 1 stuck bolt I can't get to. Need to buy a particular wrench, then I'll try and get them off this weekend. There's always one fastener on an old bike that won't budge...
