:1drink One more ride begins - INDIA!
The last one, Mexico to Tierra del Fuego, then north to New York ran from 2005 to 2008. I was young then, a mere kid of 75.
This will be shorter, six months.
Tomorrow I check out the bike at Honda's HQ outside Delhi. A 125 of course - but this one has electric start, real luxury...
I head for Agra and Gwalior first, then Guijarat and Jaipur for a Kite Festival followed by a literary festival, then south via Goa (where I celebrate my 77th birthday), Kerula and on to the tip before turning north up through Madurai, Hydrabad. Kolkot, Assam and Sikkim, then back west through Varanasi, Rishikesh and Amritsar befor turning south again to Mumbai via Jodhpur.
    Will I make it?
    May be not.
    But, at least, I'll try.
And what else should an old man do?
Watch TV and bitch at the kids and the grandkids?

Good luck and ride safe simongandolfi.
Its going to be one helluva ride. I am hooked.

Another inmate here did the whole of India and some more (I guess 25,000kms) on his 'Hero Honda Karizma'. Its probably the best indian bike for the job at present. What model are you using?

Geez, I hope I am doing that when I am 76 years old!
    Good on you mate.!!

I travelled around India by train and bus and it was the trip of a lifetime, so doing it by bike should be spectacular.

    Keep us posted.:clap

Something called a Stunner. I haven' seen it yet. I go out to Honda tomorroew afternoon were they say it is ready other than for any special requirements. How about a custom seat. Thopugh the distance here are tiny when compared to South America.

Hey, thanks for the message. I should be in Kolkata in March - after which Sikkim. Dates? The only sure one is Mumbai on May 28 for my home flight - that's if I don't snuff!

Most of the Indian commuter bikes do come with decent seats. If at all a seat softening is required, it can be done for a song.

BTW, you can also check out the following website for any bike related information in India. Lots of helpful folks:

Sweet ride you have planned there, but while everyone has to go to the Taj, I'd give the town of Agra a miss. You can stay in Fatepur Sikri, which is just nearby and a much nicer town.
