Saturday August 11 is Second Saturday at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) in Hood River, OR and for August motorcycles are the focus. Anyone who shows up riding a 1962 or earlier bike gets in free. Everybody else gets a great show.

Along with its 80+ airplanes and 120+ cars, the museum has more than 30 old motorcycles and we'll be firing up the 1912 Indian, the 1924 Douglas and several others. The museum collection includes a 1923 Henderson four and a 1938 Indian four (both have been ridden recently). For those unfamiliar, AMA Hall of Fame member Wells Bennett raced for Henderson for many years and rode a Henderson four 8500 feet up Cooper Spur on Mt. Hood in 1924. There are also a couple Cushmans, several AJS and Velocette, Harley Davidsons from 1927, 1933, 1942, 1947, 1949 and a 1953 H-D ST-165. Sunbeam, Royal Enfield, Kawasaki, Moto Guzzi and BMW are represented as is Schwinn Whizzer.

The museum's open 9 - 5 and the Second Saturday action is from 10 - 2 with lunch available on site. If you've never been to WAAAM prepare to be blown away. Come on out and ask, like everybody else does,
:eek1 "What's this doing in Hood River?" :eek1
