On the way to Ricks Rendezvous, I stopped by The Uncle Remus Museum in Eatonton, GA. While I have been there before, it was a nice stop along the way.

Who knows I'll probably go again.

I've wondered if it was still there. When Uncle Remus and related bits of Americana/American Literature became politically uncorrect, a LOT of that kind of stuff quietly changed or disappeared.

Glad to hear it has survived in some form. I went there as a kid growing up in middle GA.

Eatonton.... that's also where Rock Eagle mound is:

very cool site out in the woods by a 4-H camp. My late ma took me there when i was a sullen, brooding teen ass. She was interested in everything and dragged me around to stuff like this. Glad she did.

Yep, that looks like McRae. I ride through that intersection multiple times per year, and oddly enough I don't remember that statue.:huh But then again when I'm northbound its over my left shoulder as I'm turning onto 441 North and I'm watching for traffic coming down that little hill to make sure no log truck is going to overshoot the light and collect me on the grill. Still, I've traveled through there literally hundreds of times since I've been old enough to drive. Strange it doesn't register in the memory banks.

I drove through there a few weeks ago on my way back from Hiawassee. Was looking for a place to eat lunch. It was Sumday, the sidewalks were rolled up.

Lost, sort of somewhere in Tennessee. I won't be going back or at least not that same route.
