What's the reputation of the Orlando and Daytona BMW dealer. I hear they're owned by the same person. Anyone have any experience with them?? I'm considering flying down there and buying a new bike from them and don't want any surprises. thanks in advance!!

I've purchased a used BMW from the Daytona dealer, and had service/warranty work done at both. Personally I like the Orlando location a bit more, the admin and shop staff feel better. Orlando might be cheaper to fly into. IMHO either one has very high turnover with their sales staff, but if you know what you want and are confident with the process have at thee!

Save yourself a lot of heart ache & general frustration. Fly into Jacksonville, FL & save $$$ & keep your sanity.
I did business through a very cool sales guy, Ken.

I have done business w/ both & will never do business in the two dealerships you mentioned.
Even my wife distrusts these two places.

The new BMW dealer in Jax is very different & the owner is on the floor talking to customers, not hiding in the back office.

The BMW shop in the Tampa area is also a very good dealership.

I think I made an assumption that you had already shopped around. If you haven't please do contact the dealerships Wolfgang mentioned, see what you can work out.

I wouldn't give 5 cents to Daytona BMW.And yes , he owns Orlando too. Very bad experience and reputation. His techs drove the screws right through the plastic on my brand new RT and when i confronted the owner, he told me to go buy a Honda. BMW of North America called him to try and get him to make good on it and they couldn't . Tampa and Haps in Sarasota have great reputations. Jax. is new but i only hear good things about them. I could also tell you stories the old service dept manager told me that used to work there and quit right after this new owner took over too but I won't even go there.

Give a talk to Ken L.
He's an older fellow who has ridden a lot & is sincere in the customer's concerns. NO, Ken is not my brother.

Good luck w/ your search for a BMW in your future.

What are you looking for? Just remembering my search for my GS.

This is exactly what I'd look for in a dealership--and it's what the owner of the new BMW shop here in P-cola does as well. Gives ya a Good Feeling to see the owner out on the sales floor talking bikes, and ya realize this guy is not just in the bike business to make money, he's a genuine enthusiast.:thumb

Didn't know Jax has a BMW dealer now, cool beans. Looks like it's right across the street from Adamec HD in the old Chrysler dealership. Might have to swing by at an open house.

    Best in your hunt!

All good advice here. Not a BMW guy myself but my friend's uncle is. He's told me all the stories that have been related here. I tried to buy a Ducati from BMW Orlando, their purchase terms were outrageous. I passed on it. Ft. Meyers is a good shop, they had a birthday BBQ a few years back and i mooched a free lunch. Uncle wanted to go because he needed something. They treated him right. So, for the free lunch i mooched, i must give a recommend to the Ft. Meyers shop.:lol3

I think the Orlando BMW store that used to be on OBT moved over to JYP and is now call Magic City Cycles or something like that....anyway...charged me $35 for an air filter...ouch, wont do that again.

If you are going to fly and ride I wouldn't leave out Gulf coast cycles in Fort Myers. They have been great to deal with.

Tampa is not to far from the airport.

I live in Orlando and will never darken the door there again. Daytona same :asshat owns them. They tried to charge me 30% over MSRP for gloves. When I showed the sales guy the BMW catalogue, he went and talked to someone. Came back a few minutes later and said "they said they would honor the MSRP this time" that was my last time there.

I've bought several MC's from the guys in Tampa. :deal

+1 on Ken. I stop in the dealer often and drool over the new bikes. I did not buy my GS there, but they still treat me like I did. Good people in Jax, I support them when I can to keep this shop around!

I live in Orlando and have bought an '07 GSA and a '10 GSA one from Daytona and one from Orlando (now magic cycles) I'm not going into a big deal but all I have to say is I will NEVER buy anything from either of those shops again. If you ever do anything with them get EVEYTHING in writing. Double check your paperwork. I will go anywhere but there.
