Do the PDF's have the pics in them? I'd buy them if they did. Like others, you guys were a big inspiration for me to start adventure riding and refer back to them often. Hit one spot on the COBDR and remembered it was where ya'll got stuck in a mud hole.

Awww, man, that just sucks!!! I wondered what happened to you guys. The Wans RRs are the gold standard on here. Obviously you can't reconstruct the ones you did, but I and many others hope you don't just stop posting new adventures.

    Hi guys!

Sorry for the late reply, we had a trials event over the weekend so we've been off camping and riding.
    Did everyone enjoy the eclipse?
Matt and I managed to miss it, not even sure how. We were getting ready to go riding, must have been in the van.
Oh well. Bet it was just like this:

    @pyrate - Hi Randall!
    Yeah, it sucks. :bluduh
hey, I hope you saw the photos I posted of the ADV playset you gave us. I can't remember where I posted them. Baja WanK?
Anyway, here they are again (while they still work!):

    So much fun!

Can't be an ADVrider without stickers, haha

And you know he's an ADVrider - look at that packing job! :lol3

I even found a tiny chair for him so he can enjoy the full ADV experience.

Haha. It was supposed to be an Xmas decoration but I just leave it up all year round.
Well, not the snowman house, that would be weird.
    Thanks again!

    @Critic - ha! good one! :D

    @tilliejacques - Hi Laurie!
how are you? I hope you and Brian are getting lots of ADV riding this summer.
Have you done any of the AZBDR?

@VFR - well, we don't do much 2 up anymore and I am pretty boring on my own bike so they wouldn't be exciting reports anyway.
You guys aren't missing out on much! :lol3

    @bamamate @tilliejacques - thanks for your interest!
yes, our PDFs have all the pics. It's just like reading the report on ADV.
But you can easily (ok, semi easily) download the reports as PDFs for yourselves.
It's a huge pain, but the photos should work at least through november 2017 (and probably 2018 if RAZR is right).
That gives you lots of time for making PDFs.

With a mac and firefox you just go up to "file" and select "print" from the pulldown menu
When the "print" window comes up, there will be a "PDF" button in the lower left corner
Select "save as PDF" and there you go.

The first page of this report makes a 24 page PDF (!) but it will contain all the photos and all the replies.
    No linkies or videos, unfortunately.
There used to be a "de-crufter" that would filter out replies and just keep the OP's posts, but I don't know if that still works.
Anyway, the entire Oso Loco Colorado report in PDF form is over 3 gb. :eekers

But, you can just make PDFs of the pages that are of interest, right?
Frankly, if there are any vital bike tutorials or build threads or whatever on ADV that are of interest and are still working, I would get to work and make PDFs of them.
It seems like it's only a matter of time before the photos are dead.

Here are a couple of links that might help:

    https://www.cnet.com/how-to/five-ways-to-save-a-web-page/

    http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Webpage-to-PDF

OK, enough computer, time to go outside and play!
    take care you guys

    :ricky

    Oh, hai!

DYNOBOB called me out on his RR (two up in the san juans) so I came over to check it out (nice pics, go look).

While I was in ride reports, I thought I'd see if our photos were gone. They're still working!

    @RAZR was right!
Our paid photobucket account auto-renewed in november and it looks like they are honoring our 3rd party hosting for another year. Maybe 2? We pay for 2 yrs at a time.
    Cool.

We can't figure out how much they charged, but it was in the $35 range (our old rate), NOT $399. Whew.

Matt was thinking the 3rd party hosting was only for photos that were uploaded before the change (grandfathered in).
I have no idea so I'm testing a couple that I uploaded this morning...

    trials bikes :raabia
    [IMG]

e-bikes - not nearly as fun as motorcycles, but pretty fun.

Hey, looks like they work! :thumb

Also, some super smart guy (@jlevers ) came up with fixes for Firefox and Chrome - if you use one of these add ons, you can see all the broken photobucket pics.
On any forum! Or any webpage. It's awesome.

    http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/photobucket-fixer-see-all-photobucket-images-again.1256340/

I understand there are changes coming to ADV - I don't see ads on the imac, but I do on the laptop.
Oh well. There's no free lunch.

Anyway, hope everyone has a HAPPY NEW YEAR!:freaky
Wishing you all a great year full of riding! :ricky

    Another test pic...
I am 12 so I give myself a gold star for every day that I ride.
As a middle-aged n00b (actually going to be 50 next year), I have to work hard for every bit of improvement.
Almost done with 2017...should be getting one more star tomorrow...

The majority of those are for playing around on the trials bikes in the backyard, but there's trail riding on the XT, trials competitions, and trips to NV UT, etc on there too.
Only 3 two-up rides on the 990, though...

    Looking forward to 2018!

Considering that I have never actually met either you or Matt, it's amazing how much I have missed you two. Take care, have fun, and I hope to occasionally hear more about your awesome adventures!

My 990 is torn down for a 10K service (with a few additional jobs added), but I've been busy. I think I'll get it done in another week or two. Then, back to Baja in February!

Just got home from a long day of riding - wheee!
    :smile6
Have I mentioned how much I love riding my own bikes? I never would have guessed that. Crazy.
I owe everyone who ever suggested I get my own bike a huge apology! You were right, I was wrong. :shog
    (The secret was trials. :deal)

    Anyway...
@bomose - thank you! hope you and your wife are still having lots of 2 up fun together!

@TwilightZone - Sorry, I think the Oso ship has sailed. Nothing against the awesome Osos, we still keep in contact with them, but I just don't see myself doing another RR (nor does Matt). Too much work. Matt rode the 990 with Bartek this summer but I don't even know if he shot any video. :dunno
It was fun while it lasted but the software changeover killed ADV for us.

@JoeMongo - Hi! Aww, that's awfully kind of you! Hope you have a great time in Baja - sounds like everyone here will be depending on you for a big bike ride report! Don't forget your taco count. Buen viaje!

@advrockrider - hey Gary, you should have stopped by. We had a visit from @Bike Guy last month and it was really fun catching up with him.
We still have the 990 but she's getting pretty dusty in the garage. You should get a trials bike, we have a pretty great local group...:evil

    @pyrate - done and doner!

    :D

Give those pandas some hugs for me!

    @dvwalker - haha, thanks! :nomystery
I know, it's probably amazing to hear that we aren't crippled or lying in a rocky ditch somewhere! haha. I'm constantly covered in bruises, but so far the riding injuries haven't been too bad since I quit riding 2 up.

I wish fat bikes were as good as trials bikes - I like the way they handle mud, but it sucks to have to sit all the time. Standing up on a fat bike gets you a seat in the ass/crotch - ow! Or at least it does for me, I'm too short :(

    OK -
    Have a fantastic 2018 everyone!

Wow, I was a bit surprised to see this RR pop back up to the top! I was wondering why I hadn't seen any Oso posts recently, but I can see how the software change (and the whole image hosting fiasco as a reminder of how quickly so much work can disappear...) would have put a damper on things.

While I'm glad to hear you guys are enjoying trials, I have to say I'm sad to hear that the 990 isn't getting as much love these days. Pretty sure when I met you and Matt back in 2014 as I was still learning to ride mine, that one of the parting comments was to make sure to get out off road on the 950 and don't cheat on it too much with my little ones! :deal I suppose your ankles are just a bit safer when you aren't riding 2up, though...

Hope both of you are doing great, and wishing you an awesome 2018!

(PS I took your advice to heart... my 950 now also has tall suspension and is close to that magic 100k mile point, much of it off road. You both can take quite a bit of responsibility for that upgrade and maybe some of the bumps and bruises along the way as I learned how to ride the beast, after you all showed me what it was actually capable of. :beer)

    hey guys!
I thought I was subscribed to this thread but I didn't get an email telling me there were new posts.
We've been out of town for a funeral.
(A reminder - Life is short! Don't put anything off.
If there's something you want to do, go DO IT! :deal)

@Critic - Hi Mark! Happy New Year to you too!
Hey, I saw the AMA article about your pal Bryan - he's doing so much good work. :thumb

@gearheadE30 - what's up, Jordan? Hope all is well in the midwest. Yeah, it's funny how time changes things!
    We remember saying all that.

Well, you figure Matt started riding when he was 8 years old...so he's on 40+ years of riding dirt - longer than you've been alive (by a decade!) :gerg.
ADV riding was starting to get boring and old hat, even with a passenger to make things more challenging.
Trials was exciting for him because it was a chance to learn all new things. Like Splatters!
It's been fun for us to have a whole new riding world open up.
I'm even learning to go over logs and ride wheelies - which is hilarious, I never would have thought I could learn this stuff! :lol3

I guess the important thing is to just keep riding as much as you can, and do what YOU enjoy.

You're still young - enjoy pushing your limits on the big bike! Go ride the hell out of that thing! :super

I know you've been riding a vintage trials bike, which is very cool.
That being said, if you have a chance to pick up a modern trials bike, Do it!
And then come back out and visit us.

For the last couple of years, Matt and I have been co-organizing (with some friends) a trials event in Wilseyville, CA.
It's an awesome event on private property and this year it will be the weekend of April 21-22.
Here are some photos from 2016 and 2017:

It's amazing terrain - lots of water, creek beds, logs, etc...

it's a great time - there's camping, and some fun games (with prizes) on saturday evening.
We had a giant log teeter totter last year...

Anyway - if any of you inmates are interested in checking out trials, we hope to see you at Wilseyville in the spring!
(are you paying attention @advrockrider ?)

@K_N_Fodder - Hi Justin! :wave How are you? I saw that you were involved with the Best of Montana Ride - @Ladybug sent me some photos and I was so envious that she got to see you in Ten Sleep!
Hope you and your lovely family are doing well (stay warm!).

    Dakar starts today! Wooo! :clap
    Go Laia!

All right everyone, go have a great weekend and hopefully Pyndon's media wagon thingy will give us some better Dakar coverage than we are used to!

Your killing me...... I've wanted a trials for years but just picked up a KTM 500 EXC for this years Baja trip! My ridding buddy went out and picked up a new trials bike last year and has been after me to get one! I just had a talk with myself a month ago and was convinced that just two bikes was ok, it's a conspiracy.... I would like to come out an watch even though I know what the outcome will be, LOL.....

Happy New Year, you two!!! I just looked over some pix of a couple of your older rides. No kidding you are unhappy about watching them go poof. Those are some great pictures; sure be a crying shame to lose them.

No way you can call any of those rides boring, that's some serious excitement there. For sure not a Sunday putt....

I'm out of SoCal this month, moving to Idaho. Great riding up there. Over the last few years I've ridden most of the good roads there but I'm sure that there are a couple I missed. Might even get a small bike to try some of the fire roads.

Take care, guys and Happy Trial Riding!

@advrockrider - what? Of course 2 bikes isn't enough. Three is the minimum, preferably 4 - everyone knows that!
Go on, get a trials bike... you know you want one!
    :evil
I was going to use the devil vs angel clip from Animal House here, but it's NSFW (boobs).

Haha! Anyway, congrats on the 500. Have fun in Baja - look for @JoeMongo and have some tacos.

Is your buddy going to join PITS? He should. First event should be in March in Copperopolis. Not sure of the dates yet.

I'll try and remind you about Wilseyville, but send me a PM in the spring.
It's at Schaad Ranch (home of the wilseyville hare scrambles).

@VFR - Thanks, Larry! Yes, those were some fun rides.
Hey, that's great that you're moving to ID. Gorgeous riding. It was always my hope that you would be tempted to venture into the dirt...
Now is the perfect time! Well, not NOW, but in the summer. :lol3
Definitely pick up a small friendly bike and explore some of those forest roads!
I don't know where you will be in Idaho, but here's a nice gentle XT 225 with only 2700 miles on it -

    https://boise.craigslist.org/mcy/d/yamaha-225-xt-dual-sport-2007/6418896373.html

Only weighs 240 lbs. Perfect for putting around!
Well, I think that will put you at 4 bikes - my work here is done. :D
