I was riding around the USA and was about 10,000 miles into it when a cager in Baton Rouge took me out on I-12. Not sure how I kept it upright and got it to the side of the highway. I rented a car and I'm trying to get home with all my luggage and gear but I really hurt after that event.

Nice save. You could be much worse, from the pictures.

That's incredible! It's amazing you had control afterwards. That's pretty damn scary, the way the seat and top case is all up in your business. Glad you're relatively OK.

Wow, what a hit. I am glad you are relatively OK. Unfortunately that bike is a total.

I know a guy who could use that motor! :lol3

The guy stopped. No insurance. The police impounded his vehicle. Not sure what happened with him. He said he was talking to his friend and looking for something under the dash of his truck.

I saw so many cell phone users in the South and I was trying to be extra paranoid but I still missed him coming.

All of the boxes are toast but they stayed closed. The two side ones were ripped off in the accident.

Damn. I would file a lawsuit for the no insurance. People who cause damage and have no insurance need to be punished and pay up for the damages.

Reminds me of Long Way Round in 2004, when Ewan was hit in the panniers in Alberta, Canada on the highway, after riding all the way around the world on the final leg in North America.

I just drove through there over the Labor Day weekend. At one point I spent 15 minutes in park, totally stopped on I-12. When it broke free I found there was no reason...no accident...no construction...nothing. Just lots of people blocking the left lane and lots of cell phone users.

I-12 is a real clusterfock. I'm glad you got out of there ok.

I drive that way when I travel from TX to Pensacola. Usually stop at BR too. Traffic is crazy down there and the divers are worse!

Glad you're in one piece...sorry about your scoot!

Glad you are ok for the most part. Hope your trip home is safe and good luck in dealing with the aftermath of the accident (uninsured driver and all).
