I'm planning to ride from Vegas, through Prescott and Sedona. It looks on Google maps like there are dirt roads from Sedona, under I-17 and through to Mormon Lake. Specifically "Schnebly Hill Road."

Anyone know these roads? Are they roads or just trails? Are they numbered and marked? That kind of thing...

    Thanks!

Was in a hurry and only took Mormon Lake Road (240) last year from the lake to I-17. It was marked ok, but it was a main road so more obvious. Road conditions were good - only some pot holes here and there. It looked like a great place to explore but I would bring a good map though.

About how long did it take to get from I-17 to Mormon lake? Looks like a short trip, but I'm going to be doing this on the end of the trip from Vegas so I want to plan out my time.

I'm looking for a map too. Thanks!

best map would be coconino national forest map.
shortes/direct route from schnebly hill would be from munds park on I17.
take FS rd240 east, good graded dirt, to FS 90, right, south, to venue. :ricky

I did not time it exactly but I think around 45 minutes. There were some Jeeps that slowed our progress until they turned off. Munds Park is a nice place.

Riding up from Tucson on Friday, Good tip about the showers!

How's the camping? We are going primitive, off the backs of our bikes, any shady spots in the campground at the event? Or are we better off camping in the NF? Thanks!

Coming in from Las Vegas via Edmonton Alberta. I keep my bike in Vegas. I get much more use out of the bike in Vegas than I do in Edmonton.

Me +2 not staying at the expo as shade is scarce we are planing on camping at one of the nearby sites or dry (not sure yet depends on fire restrictions) last year was a blast and have been looking forward to this year since the kickstand went up last year. If anyone needs info about camping or nearby trails let me know we know the area pretty well.

I'm assuming cell phone reception is non existent at Mormon Lake? I haven't been to the Mormon Lake venue yet.

I guess I'll have to coordinate with my friends that are coming in from other areas to monitor their ham radios on pre-planned radio frequencies.

Thanks campbell3736, I have trucked the backroads years ago from Clintswell, there was a little store with fuel and limited groceries, do you know if thats still there? If not is there another place without having to go into Flag? Would you camp in the Double or Dairy Springs area or somewhere along FR240, 132A or others? I'm really familiar with the White Mtns backcountry areas, not so much the Flag vicinity....

The non-brand name gas station is still there. They have diesel and unleaded. The cafe next door is still open.

I'm riding down from Anacortes, camping at the N Rim on Thurs the 16th.

Bringing the new model of the welded, gasketed GS toolbox along, probably have it at the AdvMoto booth.
