I made my own from aircraft alloy shaped with hammer and a bean bag, as they are alloy the expansion rate is closer to that of the casings, maybe the steel ones are expanding at a different rate when plunging in water and hence shearing the sealent. Even though mine are alloy with the thick layer of sealant they can shock absorb the hits. They have been on for 20000kms with big hits on the APC Rally through Cordillo Downs so well proven.

Got the extra bit under this side to stop the brake lever piercing the case during a drop.

Finally upgraded my UHF to a Uniden UH078 5 watt with remote aerial and constant DC charger.
Radio is mounted with a screw and a bush through the charger at the base and using the trimmed down waist belt clip screwed into an anchor nut at the top so I can remove the radio on an overnight if required.

Remote aerial is 4db, not sure whether the proximity to my rear "Jesus" handle will mess up the ground plane yet but Radio Techs at work are going to give it a performance check with a VSWR meter and if I need to I can change the handle for a webbing strap. All kit courtesy of Dale at DMME, great service as always.

    Looks good Andy....:clap:clap

So, does the charger let you transmit while charging?

Wouldn't mind a couple more photos of the UHF set up....

Did you cut off the 12v end and hardwire it to your fuse block?

    cheers

Yep, works whilst charging and yeh I disassembled the cigarette socket and soldered hard wire to connect to the fuse block, will take more piccies tomorrow with the radio out the cradle.

Unscrew the transmit/headset lead to reveal the attaching screw, this is standard KTM 8mm into a rivetted anchor nut.

I drilled the charger base and araldited a bush in place to accept a countersunk screw, also used doulbesided foam tape between the mount and the dash to take out any twist as i didn't want to gorilla it up tight. Example of type of bush on my finger in the shot.

Trimmed down the waist belt clip that came with the Radio it is very tight fit and feels pretty solid so figured it would do the job.

Need to just address the possibility of water getting into the charger and shorting connections in heavy rain, so might have a think about a splash cover at least.

    Thanks Andy, :clap

Could you drill 10mm holes in the bottom corners to eleviate the water as the charging prongs are further up the charger.

I'm sure I tried to transmit with this charger before and it didn't work.....must have been User error......:dunno LOL

Thanks for taking time to put up photos :thumb

Pimped my ride out a little more, scotts damper, seat concepts, drilled and re-mounted b&b bash plate, new front guard and some fork protection stickers.

Had a smallish crash yesterday, luckily all caught on camera. Gotta laugh at silly mistakes. crash is at 7 minutes but the sound sucks so turn it down, still fiddling with settings on my contour HD to get rid of the wind noise. If anyone has tips with the noise problem please share :)
