    An old style/type dumb charger is fine. Smart chargers assume lead acid type batteries and will stuff a lithium, don't even try.

    You do have to be careful with the lithiums too, they try to float away when you take them out of the box. You need to secure them accordingly, they weigh bugger all.

    Been running a SSB for more than a year in most conditions and are more than happy with it. The DRs seem to have a low bleed off when sitting in the shed which is kind to all bateries.

    I purchased 2 of the SSB lithium's, the one in my WR450f is going on 2 years old, the bike is hooked into my solar system 24/7 and the battery is working fine.

    I had one in my MT09 and it failed at 14 months, just outside the warranty period and that was disappointing as it cost twice what a AGM would but even more disappointing was the fact when the battery died I could not ride the bike, when the bike was jump started the motor would stall unless the RPM's were kept high and then I could hear the bikes relays slamming in and out, I was very concerned for the bikes electrical system so I put it on a trailer to get it home.

    If it failed on a DR it could be less of a concern, but there will be no more lithium's for me.

    Steve does this mean that the DR will handle like an MX bike once i change my battery and put sum titanium bling on her?
    But seroiusly folks I'm not sold on the lithiums yet, the Earth X look to be a good product (must be to use in aircraft) but there is a premium to pay.
    Having a bit of a Schmokel moment right now, I don't need it straight away so will do some more research.

    I lbought an SSB lithium for my XT600 early last year and it failed after 8 months. . I went back to the standard yuasa that I had previous to the SSB Last Yuasa went almost almost 7 years with lots of abuse. As I take this bike to remote places I just wanted the peace of mind that the Yuasa gave me. Rather piece of mind than the few kilos I saved with the lithium in this instance but I have an SSB lithium in my road FZ1 that has been going 18 months no problem so far. Lucky dip? Who knows!

    It would seem very much lucky dip. I also know of riders who have had a crap run from the SSB lithium for no apparent reason. Although I have one fitted now for 11 months, I find it hard to recommend them because I haven't had it for long enough and have heard 50/50 good/bad reports of them.

    FWIW the old style wet lead acid battery in my buggy is now 16 years old and still fine. Sits on a solar trickle charger, and of late, only gets a run every 6 months or so. Lucas fuel stabiliser and the fuel is a few years old too. Built up from scrap and VW bits.

    Kioti and Kabota are the same?? I just bought an 80 hp Kioti, my daughter says it is the exact colour of new KTM’s!! I just sold my ‘17 KTM, will I have to paint my tractor if I get a Husqvarna?

    AFAIK they all use the same technology and have cross over share holdings. I think, like a lot of Korean stuff in years gone by, that Daedong/Kioti originally licensed Kubota tech and its gone from there. They also own Clark, aka Bobcat, so Daedong engines are in Bobcats etc. Its all incestuous. The Daedong replaced my Belarus, both 50 hp, but very different devices.

    1700 flat motor, 4spd Kombi box with drop/reduction hubs for lower gearing and ground clearance. Always got both back wheels on the ground and goes lots of snotty places. I built it back in about 1982 for getting about my land, fencing, firewood, playing, teaching kids to drive etc.

    I've got a Husky ride on mower, 650 cc 90 deg V twin B&S engine. Later ones have Kawasaki engines. They all seem to be pretty much clones, ride ons.

    Had the same Daedong Steve. Too cheap not to buy. Good thing but physically a bit light for some jobs (vineyard).

    Beat my 50hp tractor to death, went to an 80 hp now.
    Very similar to my DR actually! Went from the 43 hp DR to a 75 hp 701. LOL!!

    My 50 hp Belarus was a Deutz clone, weighed about 3 tonne and had lots of grunt. I eventually tired of fixing it and wanted something a bit smaller and more manoeuvrable. The Daedong works well for me, but at times I'd like the 'tug' of the old Soviet back. Like bikes, often no single answer, except maybe a DR650SE!

    I like it... I can't help but wonder if an extra oil cooler in & Out; taken off the Banjo fitting point of entry into the gear box would be a better way to drop the box oil temps...?
    Have had this sitting in my to buy basket for a while now...

    I vaguely remember reading somewhere someone else has done this and logged temp drops. Might have been on the big thread? eh? :dunno dunno.. It would dissipate some heating the oil gets before the gearbox.

    Anyone know what the banjo bolt size is?

    The banjo feeding the gearbox shafts gets its oil from the oil cooler anyway, so about the same temp as the top of the cooler.

    I have one of the ebay ones in the shed for fitting prior to next summer. I've also been looking at the space between the bash plate and sump for more oil, but undecided yet. My bash plate is in front of the exhaust and there is perhaps up to 3 litres of space there, although utilising it is the trick. My bigger than stock cooler definitely pulls a few extra degrees out of the sump oil temp, and if it was s till a 650, likely be good enough. I measure my oil temp with a fitting in lieu of the bung at the bottom right of the pic, straight out of the oil pump on the way to the cooler.

    Yep that's the one I was thinking of :nod I also think with that mounted there it would help the air stay around the cylinder fins better too. I have noticed (on mine) that the air flow separates away from the cylinder, based on dried road grime stains that the "fast air ain't there"! This also might help cool the oil being sprayed on the inside towards that area too.
