    Well as far as I know there isn't an 'exclusive' WR thread, so I thought I would start one. I will make this first post an index of the good stuff, so if you have anything bookmarked, pm me the link. I will also have a suppliers list for aftermarket parts, same deal PM me with any good ones!
    And most of all post up pics of mods and bling and the WR doing its thing.:super

    Here's mine when I just got it and it was new and shiny, it now has a Ascerbis 15 litre tank, B&B Aluminium bash plate, RAM Mount for GPS, Cycra handguards and a lot more scratches and dirt on it. Next to come will be a steering damper. I love this bike:

    I have an 07 model, first of the ali frame ones. 16 ltr Safari tank, bar risers, bash plate and a GTYR big bore header and pipe, which was too loud so I made an insert for it.

    Its the best trail bike I've ever ridden, 500 k oil and filter changes, clean air filter every ride, 6000 Ks on the clock and valves still in check:thumb

    Here is mine, bought it two months ago, already had bash plate, DEP exhaust, barkbusters, frame guards, flex bars (not sure they are worth their weight??) and pivot pegz.

    After a few rides I dropped the pegz back to standard and I am much happier - for some reason the pivot pegz on a 450 didn't agree with me :dunno .

    I have ordered a 25L tank and will probably add a steering damper for 2009. My plan is to use it for multi day rides in the south east forests carrying half size panniers.

    I would love to use mine for multi day rides, but it would mean an oil change every one to two days... hmmm a bit of a hassle, so I will stick to the Husky for distances.

    Picked up a low k 03 model off my Nephew to replace the lovely green bike :cry

    Looks good. But the dog is confused..

    Just checking stuff to be sure. Valves, linkages, carb, installing starter clutch mod, suspension service..It will be a goer soon. Can't wait to give it a run.

    Gotta be one of the most bland looking bikes on the market though IMO. Spose stealth is good.

    This thread is a good idea.

    I'd like to hear from some locally who has :

    • Done the grey wire conversion and run a switch to the bars to swap from the YZ map to the WR at startup
    • Shortened the throttle stop screw
    • JPlayed with jetting or needle clip adjustments from stock
    • Bought the AIS removal kit

    I agree, the oil change intervals do make multiday rides a hassle but I have been pondering this since I realised that my 02 WR426 holds more oil than the proceeding models. I now have a 08 WR450 and don't like the idea of weight reduction by reduce oil capacity. My thoughts are to put an oil cooler behind the left hand radiator, more as an exercise in increasing oil capacity rather than cooling. Also Rekluse make a deeper clutch cover to increase oil capacity.

    Anybody else have ideas on increasing oil capacity?

    I can recommend Force radiator guards for frontal & side impact protection.

    Hmm interesting thoughts on the increased oil capacity... I sure wouldn't mind a tiny bit more weight to give me that extra piece of mind... will have to investigate

    Should be around the $160; bought them through my local bike dealer.

    The oil capacity is the main limitation for doing long trips & not having a cush drive hub also. This same bike shop had a pair of after market rims to suit WR250, the interesting feature of the brand was that the end for the hub were interchangable. I imagine that you buy a standard rim & hub setup and you buy necessary sprocket & disc ends to suit your model of bike. You would buy the cush drive for long hauls & a standard setup for serious off roading. Unfortunately the shop is longer sourcing this brand as there are so many other cheaper alternatives.

    Does anybody know where you can get these rims from?? Theoretically you would only need 1 set of rims for any bike you own from that point on, just keep buying the different ends.

    Force is good. Had them on my KLX. Price around what Cheetah said depending on whether you want sexy anodised ones or plain. Mine had triangulated sheet brackets on the rear instead of the rods shown on the website.

    I inherited these on the WR - B&B - $200 on their website. Seem very tough but a different design on the front, using angled slots rather than a sheet with lots of holes. The side protection may not be as good as Force tho.

    Don't know how it translates in use though. All of them are better than a squashed rad, and the fit under bigger tanks is soething to think of if you go that direction.

    These are Zip-Ty axle blocks & puller that I have had since 03, they fitted the 08 with no mods. They make tube changes quicker & easier as the blocks stay put & the handle makes axle removal a breeze. In the Zip-Ty kit comes a pointed piece that is fitted into the end of the axle to make pushing the axle easier. My is a little worn down from a slide down the bitumen from a green front knobby.

    Having the axle remove from the right hand side makes lining up the axle block, disc carrier & hub easier.

    YES I agree. I love my WR450F but a WR-R 450 would be a great dual sport bike! COME ON YAMAHA!!!

    First ride in the bush today - great conditions, nice and cool. Really love the bike. It's just more of everything than the KLX. Steers tighter, and the suspension is a real improvement for sure. And the power is really useable, easy to float the front end over tree roots and rocks just with a bit of throttle. Not as tractable as the green DRZ but what is? And I haven't had much of a go with the jetting. I suspect it's a touch lean down low but that might be more impression than fact. I'll have a play with it and see what happens.

    I did find a bog to get stuck in though - usual poor line selection on my behalf. Instead of digging a bigger hole the big fella in the Souths jumper helped me drag it out and back up the inside line.

    Shortly after, he went over the bars of his TTR after clipping a tree and broke his collarbone so that was the end of play.
