this map is not as accurate as they think it is. I know when I build the Trans PA Trail I used this as a source, but in some areas 50% or more of the roads they show as unimproved have now been paved.

and they don't include the roads in the State Forest which is where you find the best unimproved roads.:D

I agree their are still a lot of dirt roads not on that map... But it's still a lot of potential unimproved roads to explore:thumb

apparently no one has shown this map to Garmin or my oregon 450 because it keeps taking me on dirt roads when i do NOT want to be on them ! and i have it set to avoid dirt roads.

Ask and ye shall receive. I just stumbled upon this thread; maybe someone still cares...I converted this data shown on the map into a single .gpx. It appears that the individual track segments are separated by county and sequentially numbered. The data appears to be from 2009 and is getting a bit long in the tooth if it has not been maintained. The file is BIG. I tested it in EasyGPS as well as Garmin BaseCamp without issue. Enjoy.

In Basecamp you have a kind of yellow background. A town will have a kind of grey color. Once you load this file it will turn the whole state grey and even if you delete the file from basecamp the state of Pa stays grey. Does anyone know how to return it to yellow? I tried restarting the computer. This is with CNNA maps. You notice it when you zoom in a little on the state.

Hmmm. I'm certainly not seeing this behavior with the out-of-the-box maps. Basecamp is slow as hell to work with the data due to the big file size. The track segments come into the map in gray and are placed in a list. If you delete the list from your library all of the many track segments get placed into a folder in your library named Unlisted Data (and still render on the map). Select all of the track segments in the Unlisted Data folder (click the first and hold the Shift key while you click the last) and delete them from that folder. That should clear your map. This takes a few moments due to the file size. I think all of the gray that you are seeing on the map are all of the many, many track segments. Hope this helps. Sorry that this file created problems for you but I can't replicate the issues you are seeing. Are you on the latest version of Basecamp?

I deleted the file completely off my computer. Perhaps it was like that before I loaded this file. I have the latest version of Basecamp. It only shows up when the state takes up the whole screen. Maybe it is just because of the sheer number of towns in the state or maybe it's just a fluke on my computer. Either way it's a minor issue. Try zooming in until the state takes up the whole screen and then the panning to see part of West Virginia.

I don't think what I am seeing has anything to do with this file. Now that I look a little closer Vermont does the same thing when I zoom in. Sorry for the confusion.

    Hi TowPro,

I have upgraded my map making skills over this long cold miserable winter. Do you have any interest in publishing your tracks in a format like this
