it's a lot of miles without you having a lot of miles of experience.
i'm settling back into my first PDB in 32 years... while i had about 7
years of most every weekend, that's long gone.... starting at zero,
    for most practical aspects.

i'd start with some day rides, and not string too much together for
the first six months or so of regular riding. if i started out doing
200 mile days, i think by the third one, it'd lose it's charm a bit.

Countdown suggested, on another thread, riding the GWT and PCQ as a loop. Great idea but it will take some time. More than a month. Sounds like a great plan for 2015, leaving AZ in mid June to miss the Monsoons and fingers crossed that the snow up north is passable. Need to do this one!

Home after three days on the trail riding from Graeagle to Chester.

Rode most of the Plumas Backcountry Discovery Trail but much of it just added mileage with nothing special so took a few short cuts.
These new sections and a few other alternatives will be posted on GPSXchange.com as PCQ 9-14

I still need to do Sierra Forest. I got their MVUMs and they are crap. Langley was going to help me but got delayed with prostate treatment.

I may go there in November after I move to Ridgecrest.

If you are looking for help or company on this, let me know. I am in Reno and available pretty much 7 days a week. Only moderately GPS savvy.

Thanks. It is tough to take someone. I have small van conversion with bike rack, I ride out perhaps 50 miles then back on same trail or better highway, then move motorhome, and then do it again.

    yeah Jerry, I second that.
I'd be open to helping if there's a section you want to split into separate groups and load the GPS tracks back at camp.
I'd truck it up in my cargo van. :deal

Thanks, Jerry. Given your advice to our KLR friend, I thought you might be riding something smaller.

Very true but it is also not a trail bike. It can be ridden on trails by good riders and it will cruse at 65 mph all day. All in all one of the best Dual Sport bikes ever made. I have also ridden my 230 on Mex2Can.com and it worked fine.

I color code my tracks with Dark Green as good for Dual Sport bikes and Adv bikes as long as there is not a Dark Magenta or Adv option in which case I would not advise the Dark Green with a big bike. I also have some Red tracks that I don't advise for average riders on 500s or good riders on >500s.

Back to subject to this thread, I got Lassen MVUMs and will be heading back to Chester in a few days to keep scouting north.

I worked on it the last few days and now have new Tracks for Truckee to Burney. Hope to get it to Ashland this year.

I added R-Dubb's original tracks so you can see what changed. Mainly I moved it from large graded and paved roads to secondary forest roads.

Back in 2005 I rode my R1200GS out to the West Coast on State highways and back roads and got to Bodega Bay California and rode along the beautiful curvy and twisty coastline up to Oregon which was really a great ride to take! Once in Oregon I went to BMW of Western Oregon and had new tires put on my bike since they needed to be replaced and rode back East on Interstate 84 to Interstate 82 North to State highway 395 North to Interstate 90 East which we rode on back to Illinois.
