Over the weekend I took part in my first ever event on a motor cycle. The Paddy Dakar took place in Doon Co. Limerick to honour the few Irish men that finished in the actuall Dakar Race over the years.

The bike has to be road legal and insured according to the rules.

Sorry to say but only road legal bikes where the rider is taxed and insured can take part in the event.

Its a great event run over a 100 mile course that crosses between County Limerick and Tiperary.
We arrived on Thursday night and and a ride through in the Silvermine mountains my team mate had only got his bike on Wednesday and it was his first time on dirt apart from a mountain bike. He was a natural and only came off once due to his road tyres.
We came 6th over all proving its more about the navagation than riding ability.
Thats my 690 in the photos by the way.
