Thanks, B and D!
Yes, most certainly we'll ride together again :)
Having any weird side effects from the Oxy? We ended up backing mine down to Tramadol(?) which made life much better. I couldn't differentiate what was the cause....pain or the drugs and it turned out to be the drugs. I kept a log with when I took the drug and how I felt which helped us figure out it was the drug, it also helped ensure that I wasn't taking it more often than necessary. The good thing it is your shoulder so you are mobile which will help in all aspects of the recovery. Since mine was my foot/ankle is was hard to get around let alone out of the house. Now that we have you fixed and recovering how bad was the bike? I am guessing the tractor came out fairly well, any radiator damage?
Blur, we've been talking on FB but I'm hoping that surgery heals you up super fast! Hopefully you'll get to run with me for a few miles on the TAT this Summer!
Only plastic broken, from what I can tell.
My SW-Motech upper and lower guards worked really well.
Looking forward to it!

Any more word on the brake failure? That part of this story really concerns me.
The guy assigned to the case is on vacation this week. I'll post up as I get new info.
I'm not in too big of a rush. It's not like I can go ride
Blur, give us an update. How are you doing? Weaned off the oxy yet? Did you take a massive dump yet? :) Get well soon dude.
Decided to go ahead with surgery. A plate and seven screws, dermal adhesive and 13 staples to hold it all together. It was last Thursday, May 1st. First few days weren't all that bad as I was hopped up on oxycodone (not OxyContin).
Started a new job Monday (at a place where I'm hoping to offer lots of inmate group buy specials once I put some time in ). Was a bit overly enthusiastic, lifted some product I shouldn't have....paid for it Tuesday and Wednesday morning...hurt like hell! Sometime just after lunch on Wednesday, experienced an excruciating pain for a couple seconds and then..... No pain. Very strange! I think something must've shifted back into place...will never know.
Gotta call from the director of customer relations at BMW at the beginning of this week. He wanted to go over what happened. I simply reiterated what I've been saying all along... My brakes failed. We talked a bit about my expectations. I just told him I wanted everything back to the way it was a few seconds before my crash... A bike with no broken plastic and brakes I can rely on, a shoulder that works without pain. He said someone from BMW would be inspecting the bike at my local dealer, I thanked him for his time and we hung up.
I just got back from the dealer (they provide free lunches on Saturdays :dg) .... the bike hasn't moved and the service manager hasn't heard from anyone.
Thanks for asking :)
Ummm... you're welcome? :huh
I hope you get yourself fully recovered soon. It would be a hell of a shame to win the GS Trophy qualifier and then miss the event due to this. Speaking of that, I was asked to give a presentation about my experiences at the qualifier at Morton's BMW Spring Fling this Saturday at Natural Bridge VA. I found a whole pile of pictures of you that are in my Powerpoint.
I'm not gonna miss the Trophy. I'm quite surprised how much better my shoulder feels the last couple of days! looking forward to getting on my mountain bike and road bicycle and get my stamina back up.
Just checked the distance... It's a 3 1/2 drive (no riding for me ) to the Spring Fling. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to hear your talk. What time are you scheduled?
They have me down for a 9:00 AM Saturday morning seminar for one hour. There is a concurrent seminar in another room discussing roadside medical emergencies (2 hours) and my father-in-law has an hour on riding in Morocco.
I just spoke to Steve Anderson at Morton's BMW. He said if you are coming just to the seminar to not worry about registering... otherwise, you might want to contact them about it. It would be very cool to have you there. I'm betting there would be a few guys you recognize and a few more who would benefit from hearing about your perspective.
I'm gonna try to make it. Hopefully, nothing will pop up in the interim.
Considering the theme of this thread, maybe I should attend the roadside emergencies seminar...
How was the presentation this Saturday, Cliffy? Sorry I couldn't make it. Boss asked me to come in a couple hours Saturday :-/
Doc claims he didn't leave any extra screws inside. Didn't look that way!
Presentation went very well but only 6 people were there to hear it, thank you. You would have enjoyed it although the start was delayed because GS riders kept coming into the room and asking me to load routs onto their nav units. LOL. Turns out the Nav5 doesn't hook up to a PC very quickly but old school units did.
Several people at the rally were asking about you though. They send well wishes of course.
Glad to hear it went well. I lol'ed envisioning the GS riders walking in on you to load their gps's.
I hope you gave everyone a high five for me
what's up with the loose screw :huh I hope someone threw in a jr mint too? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/M29A6rZpKqk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Whaaat? Staples???? Awe man, now your "shoulder modeling" days are over:eek1
Doc said he left extra hardware with me in case I wanted to rebuild my back deck.
