I only made it a little over half way. I went a little past St. Maries and it started to rain. I wasn't really prepared for wet weather so I went back to St. Maries and rode around looking at the town for about 20 minutes. It was actually fairly warm there (55 according to the thermometer on the bike) even though it was overcast. From Potlatch I took 95 and rode down the White Pine scenic byway and White Pine Drive. That was where it got really cold. The roads were clean but were plenty wet in some places because of all the snow melt. All in all it was a fun ride but I think I will wait for a nice sunny day before I try to make it back up to Avery. Ms. Ladybug told me where a tunnel is up there that I saw on one of her threads and I would like to go up and see it. I LIKE RIDING THROUGH TUNNELS. I would post pictures if I had taken some, but I didn't. I am not much of a picture taker when I am riding alone unless there is something that actually needs to be captured.

Just got off the bike a few minutes ago. Rode home from work in Pullman. About like most summer nights in Pullman, so tomorrow should be warm!

You guys should have some great riding this weekend. I have finally rounded up help to replace an engine so my weekend is set.

    Have fun.

    Who?

Avery would be cool! I also keep dreaming of a ride to Enterprise / Joseph. I need to get my big bike back together...

Hey Spaniard, if you are into old train tunnels I can direct you to Sorrento outside Plummer, but it's a challenging thing to ride through. It looked pretty well snowed in too when I drove by this weekend. Check out this:

That looks like an awesome ride Mr. Vintage. If you head up that way again you should let me know. I do love tunnels and would love to make some rides out to some. Also, it funny that you mention the ride to Enterprise because I was just looking at a map of Hells Canyon. So if you want to plan a ride for Enterprise you can probably count me in for that, too. I say probably because it depends on what kind of work load I have with school that weekend, unless it is during the summer sometime.

Has anyone made the ride to Avery yet this year? Just wondering how the road conditions in that neck of the woods are progressing.

My friend and I are thinking of possibly doing a run out in that direction on April 17th. I want to scout out some camping locations up in that area for this summer if the forest roads begin to clear.

The river road is paved and the road from Wallace to Avery is an allweather gravel road. Unsure if they plow over the hill to St Regis. Call the ranger station in Avery for info. Snow hangs in the high country till md June to July.

The weather looks menacing for Sunday but as accurate as the weather folks are it is a possibility that they are wrong. That being the case I have a couple of suggestions.

    Palouse Falls
    Road to Enterprise, OR

I know the Enterprise ride could be a long one but I don't know about Palouse Falls. I assume they are fairly close since we live on the Palouse. I still don't know the area very well. Just tossing a couple of ideas out there though.

Typically they don't plow the pass and you can't get thru until june sometime, but last year they did. It was towards the middle/end of may that we rode thru there, but the snow was still 5' deep along side the road. I will try to find some pictures.

Palouse Falls would be fun, but it's actually a ways away: http://tinyurl.com/cf5tmr

It's looking like I won't be able to ride this weekend between some serious yard work, two motorcycle projects, and some family time. But don't let me stop you. And take pictures!

Well its Monday and it is gorgeous outside. If it wasn't for the wind it would be as nice as yesterday. Well my afternoon class is canceled and I was wondering if there are any locals to the Palouse that would like to go riding? I was thinking around 11:00 or 11:30 am. I found some scenic rides yesterday and was wondering if anyone would like to come along? I am also open to any rides that you might suggest. I only have about 4 hours until I have to be back home to feed the farm animals but then I could go back out again after that if anyone is interested.

The jnct of 127 and 12 is Dodge Jnct.

Merengo Rd (gravel) a few miles west of Pomeroy. Turner road on the west end, near Dayton. The road was in nice shape, with swept lanes. Very scenic.

Pleasant Ridge is a nice high road (paved) that parralels 12 out of Clarkston

This is another one of those areas that is off the path to a lot of travel, but has a huge number of roads to wander.

Enough "paper work" Time to go outside and make hay while the sun shines.
