Knees, knees, knees. What a bunch of gimpy old geezers. :lol3

Get those meniscus tears fixed. It is just too easy. Scope surgery, down 3 days and walking pain free within a week. Full movement can take a while, but it is an easy surgery.

I've done it twice. First time I was at work in 3 days. Second time the tear tore up some other cartilage and it took a couple weeks, and some cortizone, before I was twinge free.

Stairs and ladder bother me now. Going down stairs can really hurt at times.

Here is a tip...go down stairs backwards. It looks silly but takes a lot of strain off the knee. I don't know why. Maybe it is just my knee that it works on

I was going to come down for beans and ham yesterday, but I got vertigo and had to cool it for awhile. Better today. Debating on whether I should climb up on the roof.
    Maybe tomorrow.
    Weather supposed to hold.
    Falling leaves await.

    My Haiku for the day.

Mine makes loud noises if I put too much pressure on it, like playing a guitar with rubber band strings. Bone spurs , bone on bone joint. Does all of the other stuff, but mostly when some of the torn stuff got in the joint and any pressure ( standing) caused me to start to pass out from the pain.

The first doctor I saw said the bone one bone bit and the bone spurs meant that the scoping would not work well, a waste of time. Seeing a second one

    The beans were very good:evil.

That picture looks to me like Horse Creek out of Joseph Creek heading to Buckhorn.

One of the others is taken from the top and looking down on the little saddle and on over towards the snake.

Mtseeker and I are talking about riding out to the North Fork on Sat. We plan on making the Bungalow - Canyon loop with some good gravel roads along the way. Anyone interested?

This is true. It was my wife's 50 birthday ride up Joseph Creek, Horse Creek and up to the plateau and back. Beautiful day!

Joseph Creek/ Horse Creek is one of my favorite winter rides, you never know just how far you will get, generally no one there and there are generally deer/elk/turkeys/ and the whole area from Clarkston on South has many memories for me. The big Horn sheep are generally in the road or next to it.

    Winter riding is here!

I am at home today with flu like symptoms , the wife was throwing up all weekend.

After installed a new brake lever on Saturday I installed new hand guards to keep it from happening again. Kit came with expansion bolts for inside the handlebars, and I found out mine have steel plugs welded in. Ended up drilling and tapping for a 5/16 bolt.

If it is cold I may just do urban exploring in the alleys, always a fun time.

Didn't you get your flu shots? I got mine last week. We could put some studs in our tires and go for a ride this weekend.

MtnSeeker...don't be complacent and try to walk today. The Drs really traumatize that knee. jamming tools and levering the knee joint open.

Take the pills on time and stay flat on your back for at least 24 hrs. Then easy does it on day two. Let the initial trauma swelling go down.
Favorite position was flat on the couch with leg on cushions higher than my head.
Watch TV, fall asleep, eat garbage food, sleep, TV, for 24-36 hrs.

I was up and walking on day three on one surgery and day four on the other. I may have rushed it a bit. I went to work and was on my feet for a couple hrs and then lay back down.

It will be stiff for a while. When I started working, the knee would start losing movement from swelling or fluid accumulation. I would go home, leg up for a few hours, then resume. Within two weeks I had most of my movement back.
Almost no pain after the first day.

    Good Luck

The cold while steelhead fishing will keep the swelling down. Especially after you land a couple.

I'm glad to hear it fixed the problem. However, you did look rather eccentric with the cane.

Stay down, elevate and ice it. Love it up the best you can before you go abusing it too early. If you screw it up too many times, they will refuse to work on it any more, then you're only option will be a metal one. Got mine last year, still have mixed emotions about them. For active people, they are not what they are cracked up to be. Try to keep your OEM's as long as possible, nothing beats your original equipment!

Thank you all for your good advice. I plan on staying on my back for the next three days and taking it easy for three weeks.

Sorebutt. I will probably stay with the distinguished look and keep the cane and thinking about taking up pipe smoking. Maybe a V Neck sweater with the leather elbow pads would look good also.:D

Turned out I didn't have " the flu" and the wife and I always get the shots so it wasn't whatever they thought was going to go around this year. Probably just stress and lack of sleep for me, feel a lot better now.

I like the idea of a mid day ride out over Lapwai road, Mission creek, over the top to Cottonwood creek, if it isn't going to be too cold. Lunch at Don's in Lapwai. Just putter along with the thermostat turned up :evil

Have to pick up the wife from the airport sometime Saturday, better figure out that first.

Second ortho I talked to said I needed to wait for a new knee until it was doing several things it is not doing right now.
I have a good brace that helps a bunch, wear it sometimes , definitely when riding.

It is only going to get to 75 here in Arizona today. We are headed to the mountains where we are going to bowhunt javalina next week. I'll probably go for an ATV ride today in the mountains.
