When I was MUCH younger I had the honor of knowing one of the Raiders who worked at the Climatic Lab. The Air Force watched over its Raiders throughout the years! I can see his face, and remember his stories but can't recall his name. He passed just several years ago.

Phill's wife is singing as one of the Andrews Sisters for the festivities Friday and Saturday... buggy woogie bugler boy from company B :clap:clap:clap

    God bless them all!

Saw on the news this morning that rides on the B-25 Mitchell will be possible for a fee.
Reggie rode the B-17 from Pensacola to Ft. Walton last year. Will try to dig up those pictures he made tonight.

I looked up the Raiders. The gentleman I was thinking of was SGT Ed Horton a gunner on Crew 10 who bailed out over China.

    Wow!

And that's not a KLR rider friendly kinda fee either.:deal

9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - B-25s on display (free) and available for flights ($425) at the Destin Airport.

Ride up on the DRz then. If I had $425 and was local i'd shell it out to ride in something like that.

    Me too.

Here's a few of the pictures Reg made of the ride from Pensacola to Ft. Walton Beach and back last year.
Once the bomber left the ground,,the pilot told them they could climb all over the plane as they wished.
Landed the B-17 back in Pensacola just before dark.

I think he paid about that much for the trip and told me it was worth every penney.

Yes indeed. That's a high honor to have met those gentlemen, Barney. We've lost most of the WWII vets, and the few that are left won't be with us much longer. When you said "one last reunion," you weren't just using a figure of speech. Today's the 71st anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. I salute you, Raiders:devildog

Wow. Great pics, this one's my favorite. Talk about a dream come true for a history buff...:augie

    Cool pic, Barney. Fo Sho.

Look POGs. At this time, I am not willing nor inclined to try and sell my Transalp through the regular means that ppl do 'round here. So I'm just letting you know - it is for sale. Some of you have seen it. And I would imagine that those of you who did, would agree that it is a damn clean example of the fighting red TA.

The clutch needs attention. It's been that way since I bought it 2 or 3 years ago. If you want to manhandle it and do wheelies and roosts and stuff - you'll need to replace it. Udder than that - it cruises on down the road just fine. Nothing is wrong with it other than that. If I were to keep it, I would up-tooth the primary sprocket for a more relaxed ride on the interstate, and not even mess with the clutch till it really was out.

3 Grand - no ups, extras, or forking around. PM me or spread the word.

    Thanks.
    Me.

I took the photo yesterday morning.

That's in the San Isabel NF, probably on road 376A (but I could be wrong on that, I want paying much attention to where I was), overlooking Buena Vista, CO. I think that the tallest peak there in the picture is Mt. Princeton.

EDIT: I guess you can't really see BV in the photo. It is hiding behind some of the hills toward the right side.

Westfest is in BV this year. You too could take this picture (sans snow)! :evil

The Stelvio is a keeper; it has a few friends now.

(the Stelvio is mostly confined to the street now that there are some real dirt bikes in the stable)

Farrr out, man! Glad to see yer enjoyin life out in CO. Sure do like that view from yer campsite; we don't get too much of that around here, ya know.:D

Back when I was a teenager in the 80's my dad had one of those CR480s with the left-side kickstarter, he told me I could have the bike if I could get it started. Sprained my ankle tryin to start that sucker. It's all for the best--I prolly woulda died young if it had ended up being mine. Only bike I've ever ridden that would power wheelie in third! That thing was strong as acid.:ricky
