I used an Olympus E-20N for the original pictures (5 megapixels, 3.5 MB file). I created the panoramas with reduced size files from my web-site, mostly because I was too lazy to find the originals on my hard drive.

yeah, I work for Caltrans, but let's try to keep that quiet, OK?

My normal sized bike was, as far as I know, the first motorcycle across the new Carquinez Bridge. I posted some pics in another thread.

    It was pretty simple actually.

I marked 16 spots equidistant from the bike (every 22.5º). I pretty much eyeballed them as my son held a rope in the center and marked them on the driveway with chalk.

Then I put the camera on top of a stick to keep the height the same and took 16 shots from around the bike. I imagined that the camera was aimed at the middle of the crank in each shot.

I briefly pulled them into Photoshop to align them on the center of the bike and then exported out the files. The real trick came in the software I used to make the QTVR Object. I used VR Toolbox which imports the pics and pops out the QTVR.

For those who missed it, the Big one (2.3MB) is here and the Small (236k) one is here. You need Quicktime to view them.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, that's what I thought while standing there also. With the clouds and lighting it looked fake. I guess they call it the Panorama Range for a reason.

Your panoramas are excellent. Usually, only the person who made them sees alignment issues. Please keep shooting.

This might be a good place to ask this so I'll try. Does any one know of ink jet paper that is 8-1/2 x 16 or 20 or more to print these panoramas on?

Sure, roll paper. I use an Epson 2200 and it has a 13" wide roll capability. The roll is 32 feet long. Widest print I've made was 29" but I think 44" is the printers limit. Not real sure about that.

I was just kidding about keeping it quiet - some people just don't seem to appreciate Caltrans very much...

If by "hollow structure" you're referring to the inside of the bridge deck, I've got some - somewhere, I'll try to find them tomorrow at work.
